Rescue/Investigate the light in the kitchen

I realize something could be of use in the kitchen. It's a small kitchen, seeing as it's located in a medium sized apartment room. There's a faint buzz coming from a drawer. I open it, and pull out a phone. Set on vibrate, it reveals Alex is calling. I answer, but all I hear is static and laughter. It shakes me so much I don't even try to search the rest, and instead go to investigate the smell coming from the back.
