The Beach
The dark forest at the edge of the beach interests you. Taking a more thorough look, you see that it truly is a dark forest, you can only see a few feet into it before it's only black darkness. You wonder how dark the forest will get as the sun continues to set, and you wonder how much further you might see in daylight.
Thinking about the sunset reminds you that it's going to get dark and cold soon...and you don't actually know how to (or even if you can) go home. Pulling the paintbrush out of your pocket, you are relieved to see that at least it hasn't changed. Can you paint a picture of home and get back that way? It doesn't matter, you think, I don't have anything to paint on! Putting it carefully back into your pocket, you resign yourself to at least a night here.
There could be something in the forest, but it's also frighteningly dark and you have no idea what could lurk inside. The beach doesn't have anywhere that could offer protection from the elements, however, unless you can manage do build yourself something. You would also need a fire and silently thank your parents for making you join the Girl Scouts when you were little. Of course, that sailor could know much more than you do.
