Downfall/Try on the Bride costume 1A
From Create Your Own Story
You once read that many, many man hours are put into the building plans of a cruise ship, not only regarding technical stuff, functionality, and safety issues, but also to achieve the utmost level of comfortability for the passengers. When you enter one of the changing rooms of the rental store, you believe it for the first time. It is not a small cubicle with a floor area of a stamp. The changing room is about three times the size. A sufficient number wardrobe hooks makes it possible to hang up everything neatly, and there is even a small corner table to put stuff on like helmets or spacious costumes.
You remove your shoes - white trainers - and take off your shirt and jeans. You hang them on hooks along with your purse. When Debra brought you the costume, you originally thought it might actually be made of leather, but now you see it is some kind of hardened cloth. It is a two-piece: long trousers and a waist-length jacket with a front zipper. The colors are iconic: yellow with single black stripes on the arms and on the out- and inside of the legs. Quentin Tarantino got his inspiration from Bruce Lee's famous track suit. A fake katana completes the costume.
You zip up the jacket, leaving a reasonable cleavage, and put your shoes back on. You open the curtain of the changing room and present yourself to Debra. She takes a critical look at you. You take a pose with the katana that slightly resembles a trained martial artist's pose.
"It looks okay, but-," Debra says. "The trainers don't match. They have to be yellow. Do you have yellow trainers, mum?"
"No, I don't don't."
Debra sighs theatrically. "I don't like it. Too bad, they have a great Pai Mei costume, with wig and eyebrows and beard." She mimes fingering the beard and throwing it over her shoulder. "Let's try another one."
