One of the only bastions of civilization in Istaria, Darrich is located in the far eastern tundra's coast, isolated from the barbarous tribes thanks to their enormous walls and remote location. Because it is a coastal town it has managed to stay alive through coastal trade with various fishing villages, making it a hub of commerce where people from far distant places come looking for work.
The official leader of the city is the tsar but the real power belongs to the various nobles in his service, deciding over matters such as economy and how to deal with the fiendish barbarians. Thousands of peasants, merchants and mercenaries call it their home, and constantly struggle for safety.
