Dirty Talk

The user who originally created it, Unkowhero23, has not been active since September 7, 2012. I don't think there is much issue doing whatever you want. Normally, the only time people get upset is when people take old pages, and start to try to redo them. New pages on old stories is a good thing, and spinoffs, well, you don't even need to ask. I understand you might want to just as a nicety, but it is not a requirement. --Dirty Me 02:17, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

lol, just a warning, if you don't leave it on my talk page, I won't see the "new message" thing. Normally it is better to leave your feedback on the other's discussion tab, which is why I try to always leave my signature in there. Now, to answer your question, there isn't a problem doing some minor edits to old stories. However, sometimes someone takes an existing page and completely alters it, turning it into something very different than it once was. That is where it hits the level of vandalism. For example, someone created a star wars thing that has certain characters, then someone came along and wrote something completely different, changing the characters to different characters, and changing the entire plotline. You can see how that can cause story conflicts and is not something accepted. Changing there into their or they're isn't an issue, and adding in a new option to create your own path also isn't a problem.

As for your idea, I have thought of something similar with the pit of abandoned stories stories. Taking them, trying to match things up, and reflow them a bit so the content isn't lost, but it is bundled into one comprehensive story. I am not sure how to do it, but my thought was basically to have the original story category (Whatever the category is as it exists now), add a new, second category called "The Abandoned Story" or whatever, and then link them together. I haven't thought too much about it since I am not ready to work on it yet. Mostly, the pit stories are fair game for almost anything, since they are on average very few pages and has not been worked on in forever. However, I am just giving advice based on how I look at it. The actual admin is Platypus, so you may need to explain to him your end goal and how you will do it, then see if he is okay with it. --Dirty Me 05:10, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

For your question on the main page talk, no, sadly, we don't have a page with active users. Normally, I look at two things to see if someone is active: their most recent contributions and the activity logs in Special:RecentChanges. So, I know most of the active users currently, and I can see when someone else was last active. Sadly though, there is no simple way to track who is online and doing something, even if it is just lurking. Maybe Platypus can, but doubtful unless a user does something other than lurk. --Dirty Me 05:15, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Platypus should, he is good about responding. And yeah, I agree, any combination of stories will probably need to be in the same categories. Normally, I stick to the adult part, but I have my own stories in Family Friendly and PG-13, although my family friendly one is harder, since it is a teaching tool, rather than a straight out story. --Dirty Me 05:41, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

In regards to your "Need help?" thing, I guess if you want, you could look over my Dirty Me story and see if the way I am trying to make the story, as sort of a growing up tale, with good, bad, and things in-between, would be something you would be interested in writing a male perspective for. If not, no worries, I just put it there in case someone would like to write their own on it. It is not needed. --Dirty Me 08:09, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know, I went through your The Abandoned Story and put the second category in all the pages involved, so all the pages in Sid's story, the Star Wars, etc, will all show up on the abandoned stories index also. I also added all the stories that you have linked to so far as subcategories. To do that, you just need to add your category: [[Category:The Abandoned Story]], into the category pages of the stories you are including in it. You can check out the Abandoned stories category to see what I mean. It has 5 subcategories now. --Dirty Me 14:16, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

No worries. I always poke around the recent edits area to see what is going on. Mostly, just to try to catch things and help Platypus. Since I have thought about doing something like that with the abandoned stories, I have been following along with what you have been doing, so just adding things like that as I go. Keep up the good work ^.^ --Dirty Me 02:25, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Platypus talk

It looks like Dirty Me covered the 'active users' thing up above. It would be nice to have a simple list of who's active around here, but the Recent Activity logs are really the only way to go.

As for an Abandoned Stories story, if you can find a way to unite them, go for it. As a meta-story, if it involves any abandoned adult stories, the umbrella story would probably have to go under the Adults section. --Platypus 12:03, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Yes, editing within the Pit is permitted. I've even sometimes seen newbies go right to the the Pit, add a page to an abandoned story, and then disappear, re-abandoning it. But go ahead with your idea. I'm curious to see what you can come up with. --Platypus 22:56, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

The only real reason to save stories in a Pit at all rather than deleting them outright is in the hopes that the fragments will inspire someone to turn them into a real story. So if you're feeling inspired, take your inspiration and run with it. These fragments aren't serving any other purpose. Rampage actually started as a pathetically written handful of pages and it's become one of the larger entries on the site, with contributions from several different writers. Hardly anything of the original pages remains other than the basic concept. --Platypus 01:51, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

I guess they aren't abandoned stories anymore once you've integrated them into your story, so yes, it would make sense to take them off of the Pit list. --Platypus 11:52, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

Chaomaster Talk

Hi, sorry I did not reply to your comment. I also like to say that I'm sum what a newbie myself, I forgot how long I've been here, or how long I've forgot about this site. So I was thinking I should just drop by and tell you, I'm not very active on here, Hell, I just find out that someone update a story I have given up on. But thanks to that guy, I feel like I should try to give my story a little more love until everything is ready. But back on topic, I don't come here often, so I won't not call myself a "active" user... Sorry. --Chaomaster 22:40, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
