"Oh, well you should check out the pool in the rec building, then," Professor Raebone says.
"I'm sure I will. Thank you, Professor," you say with a smile as you slip out of the office. You don't feel like explaining how a water mage could be afraid of drowning. It's much too long of a story. Making your way back down the hall as you examine the schedule he gave you. You have theater, magic crafting, and chemistry before lunch, practical magic and ancient literature before dinner, and vampire 101 after. Sounds like fun.
Next, you make your way across the moderately-sized campus to the dormitory building and find your room. It's empty, but there are two beds, two desks, and two dressers, so you won't be alone for long. That's okay. You like people and making new friends. You just hope your roommate won't be a fire mage. You've heard it's just an unfair stereotype, but all the fire mages you've known have been hot-headed, arrogant, selfish, conniving jerks. Maybe you've just never been lucky enough to meet one who wasn't.
You start unpacking your bags, putting your things away in the desk and dresser, when the door opens and a handsome human pokes his head in. He has long black hair with several thick streaks of white, and he has one brown eye and one pale blue. His nose and cheekbones are very sharp and distinguished, and he may be the most striking man you've ever seen.
You suddenly don't know what to say to him, your heart pounding in your chest, and you turn away before you can say or do something stupid. This is great -- your first day at college and you've already got a stupid crush on your roommate.
