You decide to try ignoring the elf, even if she seems gorgeous. If you want to check out good-looking women you can head to the taverns after your watch; hell, you might even get lucky down there. For now, your job is to guard the royal family, and guard them you will.
A figure steps in front of you then, breaking your reverie. "Guardsman," they say. You realise that it is Guard Captain Reynolds, your supeior.
"Captain," you respond, nodding.
"The King as requested your presence, solder."
