You decide maybe going it alone wasn't the best idea. As the man scrambles for the gun, you grab hold of him. You wrap your arms and legs around him and pin one of his arms as his other reaches out for the gun.

"Hit him!" you shout to the girl.

She hestiates, and you look up to see his fingers brushing up against the grip of the firearm. He uses his fingertips to paw at the gun to try moving it closer. Slowly but surely, he is succeeding. You keep a firm hold so he can't outright grab it yet.

"Hit him! Now! Hurry! Or we're both going to die!" you shout, and this time it seems to work as the girl snaps out of it and strikes the man over the head with the broomstick.

"Again! Hit him again, harder!" you say ecouragingly.

She slips out from under the desk and stands up beside your struggling forms. You look up to see he's managed to move the gun close enough to grab now. His fingers grip the handle and he pulls it back just as the girl unleashes another strike with the broom.

The man sways, his ability to remain conscious waning under the assault to his head.

"One more time! Hard as you can!" you say, keeping a firm grip on him to make sure he can't move.

The girl holds the broomstick with both hands, raises it above her head, and brings it down onto him with such force that it snaps the stick in two pieces. The man slumps down against you, and the girl shrieks and tosses the broomstick aside.

"Oh... my god! I've... I've killed... " she begins to say.

"No. He's just unconscious," you interrupt, and you see a wave of relief wash over her.

"He's... my step dad. Even after what he'd done... I just... I'm not him. I'm not a murderer," she says while you push the man's unconscious body off of you. As you rise to your feet you pick up the faint sound of police sirens in the distance, and they're getting closer.

"Are you okay?" you ask the terrified girl.

"Yes... I think so. I think I'll be okay. It's ju-" she says, stopping mid-sentence for no apparent reason.

"Hey?" you ask, waving your hand in front of her face. She seems to have completely frozen up and you no longer are able to hear the sounds of the sirens. It appears as though time has frozen.

"Thank you... " you hear from somewhere outside the room. The voice is familiar, the one you heard not too long ago when you signed that contract.

You walk around the desk and past the girl, out into the hallway, and find some kind of spirit floating at the base of the stairwell. It consists of a hooded white cloak with a featureless, black porcelain mask where the face should be. In the eye sockets of the mask you see only white voids, and sense a powerful malevolent force that holds a deep hatred... for you.

"You've saved more than one life today, and you've also saved me. You allowed me to break free of the bondage imposed upon me by my corrupted half and gave me the strength to seal it away. Thank you," the spirit says.

"What happens now?" you ask.

"Now you have to make a choice. I have the power to restore you to life, but I also have the power to allow you to pass into the afterlife. Although the contract, which you fulfilled, stated you would be restored to life I do not wish to force that upon you if that is not what you truly desire anymore," the spirit responds.

You consider your options. To live, or to pass on into the afterlife? You have a tough decision to make and will need to think long and hard about which of the two you truly want.

The End: You've saved the girl, the spirit, and if the spirit is telling the truth, another person you were not aware of. All there is left to do is to decide whether you desire to live, or to pass on... but that is another story entirely.
