"Are you okay?" you ask the teenager. She just nods in response, still in a little bit of shock over what just happened.

You look up and see the man reach Platform C when he suddenly just freezes mid-run. You look down to the little girl to ask if she is seeing that too when you notice she has frozen too. In fact, a quick glance around tells you that everyone in the vicinity has frozen except for you. It is as though time has stopped for everyone else.

"I wish I knew if he will be getting away with this or not but even I cannot foresee everything," you hear a voice say from somewhere behind the crowd of people gathered around you. It is the same voice as the one you heard when you signed the contract an hour ago.

You weave your way through the frozen crowd until you find a way out near the back. It is there you find some sort of spirit just floating there, waiting for you.

It consists of a hooded white cloak and featureless, black porcelain mask where the face should be. It has no form or body, and in the white voids where its' eyes should be in the mask you sense a strong malevolent force and deep hatred... for you.

"Still... I thank you for saving that girl and giving me the strength I needed to break free of the mask my corrupt, twisted side had sealed me in. If not for you I do not know how many more souls it would have tempted with its' offer... such as that little girl's."

"Is it gone for good?" you ask.

"No... Unfortunately not. It will be back, even if not for a long time, but it will be back. Thanfkully its' twisted and single-minded lust for power will force it to make the same mistakes such as trying to get someone to save a life despite that only empowering me, and never it. But that isn't why I have come to see you," the spirit says, then floats a bit closer to you.

"I would have restored you to life as the contract stated, but I do not wish to force something upon you if you do not truly want it. Therefore, I present you with the choice. Would you like me to restore you to life as was originally stated in the contract, or do you wish for me to allow you to pass into the afterlife my other self had denied you?"

You consider your options. Although you had done all of thus for the chance to live again, with the offer of passing on into the next life on the table again you'd have to think long and hard about what it is you really want. You have a tough decision to make.

The End: You have saved a life, and set free a spirit. Now you must make the decision of returning to life, or passing on into the afterlife... but that is another story entirely.
