D&D: Investigate the burial mound

You go off to the side of the tower and discover a doorway in the hillside, the door is open and you see tracks going both in and out in the dirt floor. As you enter the passageway you see various cracks in some places providing illumination in the room beyond, entering the room you come across what seems to have been a battle. A few corpses lay in the room, long dead, however you are able to gather some useful stuff from one of them.
Using a flask of an oily substance you remove your tattered shirt and drench it in the oil. Wrapping it around what was probably a leg bone you create a crude torch and look down the stairs into the catacombs below.
