You are strongly tempted to grab it, but after seeing what you just saw upstairs you decide against it.
At this point all the eyes in the bar are staring up at the balcony. There seems to be a battle taking place, but some sort of dark magic is surely at work because men are bursting into flames! Above the commotion you can hear a man's voice shouting, "Where is it?! Where did it go?!"
Suddenly a pale man in what appears to be monk's robes peers over the edge of the balcony. He sees the gem sitting on the ground beside you and then his eyes meet yours.
"You there! Stay exactly where you are!"
