Downfall/Hotel 4
From Create Your Own Story
It is past midnight when you enter the hotel. Kirsten sent Julianne a text explaining that she and Will went to bed. They left the key to your room at the counter. Julianne collects the key and inquires the availability of room service. According to the concierge, the kitchen serves round the clock. Julianne orders tea to be delivered to your room.
Your room is on the top floor, at the end of the hallway. Kirsten's and Will's room is opposite to yours. Julianne unlocks the door and switches the lights on. There is a double bed, centered at the east wall, with nightstands on each side. There are windows to the north and west. The roof terrace to the west is accessible via glass sliding doors. Next to the entrance door stands a large wardrobe (useless for now) and a dresser with a large mirror.
A knock on the door - the tea you Julianne ordered. While Julianne takes care of the room service, you open the terrace doors. Besides an ensemble of a table and four chairs, two sunbeds and a beach umbrella are situated on the open space. A privacy shield divides the terrace from the opposite side that belongs to Kirsten's room. The air is balmy, the sky is clear, the stars are twinkling in the night sky. Julianne comes out; she puts the tray with the tea and some biscuits on the table. You sit down. Julianne pours you tea and takes a cookie.
"The view is breathtaking," she says. You agree. You overlook the town, the streets are bustling with activity, even at this hour. Over the street noise, you can hear the waves breaking on the shore.
You enjoy your tea in silence. Then, out of the blue, Julianne says: "We need to talk about something."
"What about, mum?" But you know what it will be about. The cab ride. You are not sure if you want to talk about what happened there.
You wait for Julianne to gather herself. Just when you think she might blow the talk off, she says: "What happened in the cab was-"
"I'm sorry, mum!" you blurt out. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
Julianne looks puzzled. "Sweetie? I know that you behaved... strange, but it was my fault. I should have stopped you, and nothing would have happened. It is me who has to apologize."
You look at one another, at loss for words. So Julianne blamed herself like you did blame yourself. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, but since you are sharing the hotel room, how shall it go from here?
