The deep furrows left by the heavy vehicle are easy to follow. The slavers didn't even try to mask their tracks. They rely on their superior numbers and the high-tech equipment provided by the God-King. The cowards! But you suppress the urge to curse and scream into the darkness. There could be patrols or dangerous monsters around.

But no beast accosts you, perhaps out of respect for your loss - or scared by your vengeful fury.

Dawn comes. You pursued the slavers all through the night, yet there is still no sight of them. They had a head-start, they are on a vehicle, you are on foot, and growing more and more exhausted with every step.

Suddenly, you notice something interesting. The track-marks continue straight north. But a few sets of footprints appear, probably belonging to slavers who disembarked. These footprints lead to the east, towards the swampland. Three or four people, in total.
