The Caladbolg is a legendary weapon obtained by one of your trusty soldiers after some cloaked man lended it to him in the battle of the changelings. After they won without losing a single man he returned it to you. The Caladbolg seems to have a good effect on the demons and even kills the spirit like ones. It doesn't effect magic, it's just strong.
