Again it's easy to say "use photos". Purse wasn't on the bed anymore. You left nothing but to try find it and you went down.
Your wife was there working on her notebook in the living room. And her purse was lying in the hallway out of her sight. Looks like if something have to happen it will happen.
To hell it! Dayplanner was there but there wasn't any photo. You search inside purse but and there wasn't anything interesting too. You went to the living room thinking about what could it mean. Your wife was there totally concentrated on her computer which means she didn't notice anything.
