It seems like forever on the ship. All the hours and hours of darkness in the cellar and lying down in scrunched up positions make him weep while others moan, scream and die right there. Tobias goes to sleep everyday hoping to dream about his family and back home in Africa, but he always has nightmares about the white men taking him. Each time he wakes up, he cries softly.
You arrive on a docks with your mother, your brother, and a bunch of other men carrying whips and guns. They take you out the ship in chains. The ones that didn't make it, they simply toss them overboard. As you walk along the docks in shackles, you hear your name faintly. In fear of punishment, you keep your mouth shut and hauled onto the streets where a woman waits to take you to a plantation in Virginia.
