Hey, I'm Dreamwalker, and hopefully this isn't too confusing, but my (first?) CYOA on here is also called "Dreamwalker." It's about a guy who likes to lucid dream more than he likes his real life most of the time. The guy in my story is not fully reflective of me, but as is usually the case, some characteristics of the author will bleed through into central characters. But overall his personality and experiences are fictional.

I've barely started the story right now, and I intend to make it non-linear. Perhaps sometimes I'll have multiple dream choices and allow people to go back and do all of them in any order, or maybe I'll just force people to use the back button or replay from the beginning if they want to do that. I'm not sure yet, but I don't want to have one of those CYOAs with a clear forced plot... otherwise it's not really a CYOA. So there will be some temporary branches but also some permanent branches in the story.

Tasks:

  • Make First Night Before Sleep (COMPLETED)
  • Complete the Rainforest Dream
  • Complete the School Dream
  • Complete the Work Dream
  • Complete the Door Dream
  • Create the next day of real life
  • Create the next set of dreams

As you can guess, the number of distinct permanent branches will increase day after day, making it more and more work to create the next day. Since it's unlikely you'd die in the real world in this sort of story, I may eventually abandon the paths which are less-interesting to me and leave them to future editors if interested. However, the story will not be open to such editors until I have made it into a sufficiently large CYOA (perhaps a couple hundred pages). I'm not sure by when this will happen... perhaps summer 2012? I don't know. Maybe earlier, maybe later. Also, what I might do is open some paths for outside editing and leave other paths to myself. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
