You get to class and sit down. Class will start in about 5 minutes. Everyone around you is looking at their textbooks or notes, flipping through the pages and rapidly reading

Oh shit! There's a quiz today! And you completely forgot to study. This is supposed to be the easiest quiz of the semester in this class - it's designed to help students keep their average up because of how few people successfully pass the later quizzes. You can't afford to get a bad grade on this one because it will screw with your average for the rest of the semester.
