Congratulations! You’re a server at the local pancake house. You start at 6 in the morning; your job is to fix the coffee and serve it to the people coming in for their early-morning dose of caffeine. You’ll also be serving pancakes and waffles to those who are lucky enough to have time for an early breakfast. Your boss allows you two free meals a week; choose wisely for when you use them. Your uniform cut you back 35 dollars, so now you have a balance of $965.
An especially irritable customer comes in at seven in the morning, when most people are at work. Business is slow, and they seem to be having a very bad day; most likely they’ll give you a bad tip. Do you:
