You breathe acid onto a nearby alligator. The alligator gets covered with the stuff and freakishly dissolves into the swamp. Bad move! Even low-witted alligators (these ones, at least) are smart enough to realise what happened. They all attack you and your dragon turtle. You try to fight them but you're hopelessly outnumbered! Together, you and your dragon turtle sink, dead, unto the sludge.
