John had never seen Trisha cry before, but there she was, curled up on the couch, sobbing into a pillow.

He hurries over to the couch and sits at her feet. "Trish, hey don't cry. What happened?" he says in a soft voice.

"Ah-I don't understand! Things were going s-so well. We almost never fought and we had so much in common. Ha-how could he leave me?" she squeaks out.

Trisha had been seeing Sean for the past 8 months after they met at a new years party. Things had been great, as far as John could tell, but there was always something odd about Sean that he could never really put his finger on.

John took a big breath and told her "don't worry about him, you're the best girl I know, and if he can't see that, then it's his loss. I know it's cliché, but it's true."

Trisha stops crying for a second and looks over at him. Her makeup would be running if she wore any. "That's really sweet John, even though it's corny as hell." she says before showing just a hint of a smile.

Trying to brighten her mood further, John asks her "hey, how about we forget about Sean and go see a movie tonight?"

"Well, I don't know. I have some homework that is due tomorrow, and my grade is starting to slip" she says coyly.

"Awe, c'mon. We gotta do something to make you feel better" he reasons.

Nights with John have always been fun, but perhaps there is more fun to be had...
