Out to Catalina Island

Figuring that Catalina would be the best place to hide until the heat dies down you start your long swim out to the island. It's nearly twenty-two miles from the Los Angeles coast, but your undead limbs carry you there far faster than any living person could move. A few sharks swim near to investigate you, but your rotting flesh quickly repels them. Soon enough the you see the island in the distance.
A few miles out you stop to look for places to come ashore. At the southern end of the island you can see the lights of island's only city, Avalon, where about ninety percent of the island's population lives. Towards it's northern end, located on the islands isthmus, you can see the small village of Two Harbor. For a long, miles-wide stretch between the two settlements is nothing but uninhabited land, with only a few trails, tourists sites, and abandoned buildings to spoil the wilderness.
You see the first grey light of dawn approaching from behind you in the east. By the time you get to shore the sun will likely be up, and with it some of the island's residents. choose carefully.
