You should definitely get your gems and other ceremonial stuff before you go to your elders. You are the shaman (yes, apprentice), and your strength lies not in your muscles, but mainly in the spirits you bound to you and in the gemstones.
You hurry to your tent and get your gems. They are woven into leather strings and hang on bracelets, you wear two on each arm, one at your wrist and one right before your armpit.
