You arrest the kid and lock him up. When you inform Zelda, she goes to see the boy. "You arrested Link!" she cries. "He was a friend!"
Oops. Now you get a sentence in there, while Link is freed. You spend seven years in the dungeon, but starve to death within 3 months.
