Phantom Blood is about the young and kind son of a British aristocrat, Jonathan Joestar, and his rivalry with his recently adopted brother and gutter scum, Dio Brando, as Dio attempts to drive Jonathan insane so he can take over the Joestar heritage. After being pushed too far by Dio's emotional and physical abuse, Jonathan attacks Dio and trounces him but the fight throws some of Dio's blood onto a stone mask.
