You decide that complimenting her looks probably wasn't the best start, and decide to take a different approach.

"Sorry, that was a pretty awkward way of saying 'hello', huh?" you say quickly. "I just transferred to this school...nice to meet you." You stick your hand out to shake.

Amelia looks up at you, giving you a hesitant stare, before accepting the handshake. "You're the new human student, right?"

You nod. "That'd be me."

She gives you a puzzled stare. "You're different from what I expected..." she speaks, before shaking her head. "Sorry, that didn't come out right."

You laugh. "We all make mistakes, right?"

She smiles softly at you. "I suppose so. I'm Amelia, head of the track team."

"Do you play any other sports?" you press, though from what you've seen of her, you already know the answer to that.

"Heh, I'll play basically anything," she replies. "I guess you can call me the all-around sports gal."

You chuckle. "I'll be sure to think of that title should I ever forget you. That'd certainly be unlikely, though."

You can see the pink tinge return to her cheeks. Dang, it's easy to cause this woman to blush.
