Today is the day. Your father has told you everything he knows, given you all he has learned over his years. You have been raised, taught, and groomed to be a king; now you must secure that future for yourself. He has given you no instructions; you may remain at court as long as you wish, or leave immediately without notice. You must do this alone, for none can know of the curse. It is your adventure, and yours alone. His one suggestion was that you visit the Great Library of the North, which lies at the end of a long and treacherous journey.

Sunlight streams in through the curtains to wake you this morning. A servant opens your door not a minute after you open your eyes.

"Your highness? Your instructions were to be woken an hour past dawn." says the elderly man.

"Yes, yes, of course." you respond, deep in thought as he lays out your clothing, draws hot water for a bath, and otherwise prepares you for the day, all with the patience and calm of a man who has spent his life doing such things.

The movement of getting ready, the sensation of pulling fine clothes over onto your skin, and the light all serve to make you more aware. You dismiss the servant, and then, ready for your waiting adventure, finally open the door to your chambers.

Today is the day.
