You stop outside the tavern, waiting for a stableboy. The lad comes running out seconds later, leading your stallion to the rear of the inn. You thank him, chuck him a copper coin, then head inside.

The common room is quite busy. You guess this is the main social point of the entire village. A few eyes turn to you as you walk in and you can hear a bit of a commotion. These folk won't see many knights. Perhaps you can use that to your advantage.

The barkeep - a fat, balding man with a friendly smile - waves you over to the bar.

• Approach the barkeep.
• Look around the tavern.
• Head back outside.
