Your eyes look over your glossy AK-47 lovingly. You put it on with the shoulderstrap, lock it and load it, and grab extra mags.
For a sidearm you pick a nice 1911 .45 caliber pistol.
For Hugo, a Mossberg 500 shotgun, and a 9mm pistol for Jane.
You bring the guns and boxes of ammunition back into the living room, where Jane has sat down next to Hugo and they are sharing a cigarette and managing to laugh about something. That makes you happy.
You give the guns to them, and show Jane how to handle a gun since she has never used one.
You remember that zombie bumbling around down your street.
Might be good practice for Jane you think, but is it the only one out there? You have a silencer, so the sound wont draw attention. You and Hugo would be protecting her. What could go wrong?
