You take a seat in ''Rundas II''. The sleek jet's outer surface is painted in icy, shimmering light-blue shades, which does nothing to help you warm up. But as soon as the engine of it turns on (with you inside, of course) the hot air-conditioning kicks in.

Not.

The lead Elitist is sitting next to you. A man you've never seen in your life is piloting the jet. He reaches to the hot air-conditioning dial, but withdraws from a command by the leader.

"Don't turn that on, Jack. We'll feel even colder then we did before we got in once we get out.

The jet goes faster and faster along the runway. Suddenly, it pulls up, and within seconds you are flying gracefully above the clouds. There is no sound at all, which is somewhat eerie.

"Would you two like somethin' to munch on?" Jack asks. He has a very slight Southern accent. "A man can't kill on an em'ty stomach." He chuckles at his own sadistic wit.

"The usual. Extra sugar for the amateur."

You pretend to look out the window so he doesn't notice you roll your eyes. 'Amateur'. That's what he called you.

Jack reaches into a container and pulls out two white spheres. They look perfectly smooth, as well as perfectly inedible.

You look at yours suspiciously.

"Try it," the leader urges. "You'll like it. Trust me."

You bite into it. It feels like Play-doh, but it tastes like... bacon. You chew a bit. Now it tastes like boiled eggs.

You swallow and take another bite. Sausages and buttered toast.

The whole thing tastes like a vast array of breakfasts. And the final bite turns into coffee the moment you put it in your mouth.

The jet dips beneath the clouds.

"Arrivin' at Kula. Have fun killin' off that military un--"

An unseen artillery piece suddenly open fire on the jet.

You wake up with a flashlight stuck in your face. Shocked by the sudden light, you lower your head and cover your eyes with your hands.

"Get up," you hear the leader say. "We leave now." He shuts off the flashlight before striking you on the head with it, just enough to make it sting for about five minutes. You rub the small bump now forming on your scalp.

"You fell asleep at the table the moment I finished the meeting. That is a sign of incompetence and disrespect. Get up. Now."

"Wha-- wha' time's it?" you slur slowly, struggling to get out of the chair.

"Three o'clock. The enemy soldiers leave at six."

You notice the crystals of ice and steam that form upon leaving his mouth as he speaks. God, is it cold. The Hawaiian islands aren't what they used to be since World War III began.

He walks coolly towards the door, oblivious to the icy air. You stagger after him.

"We are taking my ice jet, ''Rundas II''. It relies on cold air and humidity that it turns into ice, which in turn melts into water. Water supplies the jet.

"Choose a weapon for our mission."

It's all you can do to keep from falling asleep, but you manage to catch these tidbits of information:

The center of Maui is almost entirely controlled by your side, but the Unitists are still clinging on to their piece with a single military unit. However, intelligence believes they have given up and plan to move on to the northwest in the morning.

The particular area they are moving towards is south of the city of Pukalani, and, unbeknown to them, patrolled by bombers.

The enemy's dive bombers are threatening to attack the center of Maui. It must be defended at all costs.

The Unitist's main idea seems to be to bust a path to the west for secondary ground units. They're trying to cut off a large portion of Maui for themselves.

The only defense we have against them making that move is, at the moment, a infantry-bombardment artillery unit.

Our own plans are to move the eastern military unit at the center of Maui forward: the other two can defend it on their own.

It would be great if we could move an artillery unit to the western part of Maui, but that remains impossible due to nearby enemy bombers.

Trying not to concentrate on him, you look through the hole in the roof and see a speck in the sky. It gets bigger and bigger, and you identify it as a bomb.

The Unitists are the Europeans, Asians, and Australians. Europe and Asia are fighting for control of the Arctic, and Australia is taking over the Pacific Islands one by one.

The Africans have decided to stay neutral; they refuse to take any part of the action they call the "Folly of Earth".

Both the Americas and the Unitists have requested you for their armies. They call you the One.
However, the Americas nabbed you first. They say you would make a great Front Line Assassin... whatever that means.

The date is Monnday Twentiforth, 2072. You have been sent by the general of North America to the Supreme Military Office stationed in Kansas to enroll as an elite.

"Greetings, sir," the man behind the desk says without looking up from his computer. "I heard you are an elite. Which Great Army would you like to join?

==Creating a Story==
If you have an idea for a story, you might like to try [[Idea Pitches|pitching your idea to other users]] and seeing how interested people might be in playing your story, what you could do to make playing your story fun, and who might be interested in collaborating with you to write it. Once you have done that, you can create it by entering your desired name for the Story into the search box and clicking '''Go'''. If the name has not already been taken, click this exact title to start the story. There are three general types of story. The first is the branching-plot story (an example of this is the Choose Your Own Adventure series of gamebooks), which require the reader to make choices but are otherwise like a regular novel. The second type is the role-playing game adventure, which combines the branching-plot novel with simple role-playing rules such as attack points and monster battles. The third type is the trivia quiz, where the player must answer questions as if they were on a game show.

The next to the last line here is the ''status indicator''. The status indicator shown here is the ''basic'' status indicator. Different stories use different status indicators, and some use none at all. Look at the edit screen for the page you're starting from and copy that status indicator to the new page you're adding. Modify as necessary.

Every page should have the category at the bottom. This keeps track of all the pages in the story. You can copy the category line from the previous page to the one you're working on. The category, obviously, is ''never'' 'name of story you're working on'. You type in the actual name of the story.

*Please stick to the theme and setting of the story, and discuss ideas for major changes on the discussion pages. Although creativity is encouraged, radical plot changes and inconsistencies will ruin the flow.
*If something is off topic, remove it.
*Try to capitalize and spell your words correctly.
