Liddle: Created page with 'You start silently making your way to the door, trying not to disturb her. Trying to get out, and away. You don't know what happened to you but the creepy room isn't helping you.…'

You start silently making your way to the door, trying not to disturb her. Trying to get out, and away. You don't know what happened to you but the creepy room isn't helping you. Just as you get to the door her voice sounds out.

"Do you know just how many spells there are that forms light? Thousands, thousands of spells and there all so, so pernickety! Urrrgh! It's so stupid" She stands up on her armchair and faces you, hands on her hips and looking exhausted and very angry. However the effect is ruined as you realise she's merely a child, wearing a simple summer dress. Her long, white hair flowing. She looks frail, but has a commanding voice.
Her voice takes up a mocking tone "Your not the right species, you have the wrong blood type. Your hair is the wrong colour! You live in a village, you believe in the wrong religion, your father was a blacksmith! You sneezed yesterday, your not pregnant, you were out at night, you looked at a feaking daffodil! It's so stupid! Why? Why does it matter! It shouldn't matter, magic doesn't care so why do the spells?!" She looks you straight in the eye, you notice her eyes are a birght purple colour and her stare feels intense, it pins you where you stand.

"I have spent the last 12 years trying to make one pure, unified spell that isn't so stupidly complicated. I am so, so close, I can taste the success. And on the day that I actually get somewhere, when I start forming light, when it finally works some guy snoops around. Funny coincidence right?!" She has a bright, manic smile and you start feeling that maybe this wasn't the best of ideas.

"I have dealt with your kind before boy and I am in no mood to play games. Now you are going to answer my questions and if your really, very lucky I might not kill you!" She keeps glaring at you.

You look at her, considering, she's a child and she can't follow through with any of her threats but she certaintly doesn't look like she's bluffing. Judging by the look of the room she's rich, so presumably she has guards? Right? You look to the right, the door isn't very far away, you should be able to make it. Your eyes flicker back to the girl, maybe you owe her an explaination, you did sneak around after all. Then again, maybe you should try to talk some sense into this girl. You could easily overpower her, and she's starting to annoy you.

You appraoch the chair, strangely even as you get closer the words she is uttering doesn't become any clearer. You see a strange mist emanating from her hands, it looks to be glowing slightly. You silently edge closer to her, trying not to disturb her and keeping a wary eye on the strange mist.

Her hands close firmly to form fists, the mist evaporates and she starts speaking in a clearer voice.

"Do you know just how many spells there are that forms light? Thousands, thousands of spells and there all so, so pernickety! Urrrgh! It's so stupid"

She stands up on the chair and lean against the back, you notice that she's wearing a simple, summer dress and has long, white hair. She's short and looks frail and her voice takes on a mocking tone.

"Your not the right species, you have the wrong blood type. Your hair is the wrong colour! You live in a village, you believe in the wrong religion, your father was a blacksmith! You sneezed yesterday, your not pregnant, you were out at night, you looked at a feaking daffodil!" She looks exhausted and really very angry.

"It's so stupid! Why? Why does it matter! It shouldn't matter, magic doesn't care so why are these spells so, so stupid!" She looks you straight in the eye, you notice her eyes are a birght purple colour and her stare feels intense, it pins you where you stand.

Stay put and try to work out how to talk

Liddle:

You go and sit back down on the couch, looking out the window. You sigh, '''Where it all began''' you think to yourself. '''I wonder what the view might be like during the day?''' Idle thoughts flicker through your head as you wait for tiredness so you might forget everything that had happened, and lose yourself to sleep. But nothing happens, you sit there for hours and find that your not tired in the slightest. '''This days just getting weirder and weirder...at least, I think this is weird? But I suppose I don't know what's weird for me anymore. Who knows, maybe I've always been like this?'''

You close your eyes and lay down on the couch, getting comfortable before thinking on what happened today. Well, you met a strange little girl that seems to know far to much and insists on calling you a child. An older man that just doen't seem right. And apparently, touching stuff is hard. Your eyes flicker open and you bring your hands up to gaze at them. '''I wonder why you have such a touching problem. I mean, is it just you two or is the whole of me untouchable?''' you think to yourself. You think for a bit and then look down at the couch you're laying on. You experimentaly prod the couch a bit with your finger....successfully! '''What did that girl cast some weird spell on me?''' You wonder.

Then it hits you, you've been making noises. Okay, so you haven't been talking, but whines and groans and grunts are just a step away right?! You excitably sit up and try to talk, but nothing happens. You spend a couple of hours willing yourself to speak, but to no avail. You let out a small cry of frustration....and then a groan as you realise you can make strange little noises, but not actually speak! ''' Well it's a step forward at least'''

'''...Did I just? Nooo, no I couldn't of.....but I am...but what??''' You say? You're sure you can hear it, not like you used to hear yourself. But in a new way. '''What's happening to me? And how....how am i doing this?''' You wonder about your new found ability to speak... sort of. It doesn't FEEL like talking. Not that you can remember how that feels. But it's defiantly something.... you're just not sure what exactly? The rest of the night passes by pretty quickly, and you stay on the couch, watching the sun slowly rising.

'''How long is she going to take?''' You think, feeling impatient. Judging by the sun it's now midday and you are very bored. Finally the door opens and in walks the girl you met the day beofre looking much more refreshed than she did from the day before. You see her close the door yawning as she goes. Well, it's now or never. '''What took you so long?''' she turns and smiles.

"Congrats kiddo you learnt how to speak! Took you long enough."

'''I'm not speaking though am I?''' You think, seeing her expression change from a smile to... suprise.

"Hmm, you're pretty sharp kiddo. Most new-borns don't figure that out for at least a couple of months. But you? You get that on your second day. I'm impressed, and it's not oftern that I say that. Now just give me a sec and I'll fill you in alright?" You nod your agreement, and watch with intrest as she wanders around the room with supposed purpose whispering chants under her breath as she goes, just like the day you met her. Otherwise known as yesterday. You lie back down and wait for her to finish, after a while she joins you, draggin the chair from the corner with her.

"Sorry, favorite chair" She says with a smile, "it helps me think, weird I know, but there you go." She sets her chair up so she's to the right of the window, facing a bookcase, and sits down upon it with her legs crossed. She closes her eyes breifly, taking a long, deep breath. Then they snap open again and lock onto yours.
"Your right, your not speaking. You can't speak anymore, what your doing is projecting your thoughts around you. I'm picking up those thoughts, not as words but as ideas, feelings and impressions. This allows me to understand what you are trying to say."

'''What do you mean I can't speak anymore? Why not? Was I able to speak before? What happened to me?''' You demand, feeling yourself panic again.

"Okay kiddo, calm down. Now, I'm going to try to explain this to you, but you need to keep an open mind okay?"

'''Okay, I'm...I'm alright..it's just, well.....I...I can't remember anything, it's just...but I'm, I'm okay. Honestly I can deal with this. Please, explain?'''
"Okay, okay kiddo. Right. Now you can't speak because you don't have a body anymore...."She trails off, looking at you and trying to gauge your reaction. You stare at her for a while, hoping she'll announce it's a joke. But ...nothing. Eventually you say '''So.....I'm dead?'''

"Well....not exactly. You're ......unusual. She ermmm, right, well everything is made up of four main bits. There's the mind, the collection of all your memories. The soul, your very essance of you. Your spirit, the spark of magic, or potential you are born with. And lastly, your body, the physical part of you, muscles, bones, fleshy bits, all of that stuff. Now, dying is when your physical body goes out of action. When that happens usually your spirit leaves you, and your mind and soul passes on to another realm. This happens because it they don't have enough power to remain in this relam. Now, to be honest they don't actually realise that they lose their spirit, or even why their changing realms, it's just sort of...happens. Now you, you did soemthing different. You died, but then instead of just laying there and letting your spirit leave you you fought back. Now I doubt you knew what you were doing at the time, but anyway, you did. Now usually the spirit dashes off to be born into a different body, or to disentigrate into magic and fade back into the world. This happens all within a couple of minutes. You held onto it for quite a bit longer than that. The problem with that is that when spirit is unused and unbound then it attracts a lot of magic to it. While you were clinging to it, it couldn't disentagrate and it couldn't bound with anyone else, so magic strarted pouring into it, and therefore you. When pure magic pours into someone like that it changes them. Permanently. The amount of magic in your spirit determines your race. If I were to assign number to it then humans would have 10, slightly magical but can't do a lot. Magically powerfull races, like the musicians, the fae or fairies are around 200-1000. Between them and humans are races like demons, shifters and dragons. They have around 50-100. Below humans are races like those that dwell in the darkness. They have about -250. Because so much magic poured into you it's changed you. I don't know what race you used to be, but now you're one of the Cursed Race. Not the nicest name in the world but you kinda got named by super superstitious people."

"No. Well, kinda. Whatever life you used to lead is over, the people who used to know you believe you to be dead. But you're still here! You can live this life!"

'''Who was I? What...what race was I?''' You ask, deeply shocked by the news of your almost-death. '''How did I die?'''

"I don't know...see, the change that happened to you requires energy, it took that energy from your mind. I myself have used memories to fuel spells before, so i know how it works. Strangely enough minds are built so that the memories can sensably and easily be taken. The first thing to go would have been what I call 'hesitant memories'. All thoses things you can almost remember but not quite, like what happened that night you got completly wasted, or where you put your keys. Then the 'unattached memories', these are memories of things that you don't have any emotional attachment to. So stuff like waking up in the morning, all those boring things you had to sit through. The next to go would have been the 'factual knowledge', everything you've ever sat down and learnt, every word you ever read, every lesson learnt. Afterwards are the 'attached memories' these are memories that mean a lot to you and you are emotionally attached to, anything from a really tasty meal, or laughing with friends, to your first love and the birth of your children. Lastly, is a sort of clean up, a rummage round erasing anything left, maybe the memory of you face, the smell of roses. Any little thing remaining is deleted, allowing a full transformation. I'm sorry kiddo."

She shook her head, looking at me with sympathetic eyes.

"I'm sorry kiddo, this isn't the world you came from. People aren't supposed to deny death, when they do they sort of..... slip between worlds. You fell. I don't know where you completed you transformation but you landed here. This is not the world that you once walked upon. As to reclaiming your memories? It.... it might be possible, but it would be hard and most of the time they wouldn't be very big. Not like relationships, more like your face, a smell. The feeling of wind on your face. Small things. But I don't want to give you false hope. It might not be possible. So, anyway, if you want we can work out what you used to be? Or is there something else you want me to explain first?"

Find a book you can actually understand

Liddle:

You decide that your first step to working out who you are should be working out what language you speak. You glance over some open books, but all the script looks unfamiliar. You walk up to the nearest bookcase and go to grab a book, the first one you choose, a leather bound book, you can't hold. You try to grab it and your hand goes stright through! You let out a growl of frustration an try another one, and another....and another. You can't effect any of them!

You decide to give up, and think on what to do next.

Stay and tell her who you are

Liddle:

You go to tell her your name... and realise you don't know your own name with a start! You shakily try to tell her this and discover you can't speak, not only can you not soeak but no sound whatsoever is coming out of your mouth! You start clutching at your throat, still struggling to speak.

She gives you a funny look. "Are you....trying to speak? Seriously?" She looks you up and down, somehow her criticizing gaze calms you down someone and you stop grabbing your throat. "You're new. Very new, almost...? No, you can't be." She narrows her eyes, grabbing your chin and dragging you down to her height. She stares straight into your eyes, you notice them changing colour, becoming slightly paler, it surprises you but you're not sure wether it's your imagination or not. "Intresting, your new. Like, newborn new. Strange." She releases you and takes a step back, a hand on her hip and a slight sigh escapes her lips. "You're really very lucky, it just so happens that I have a back-up for the spell you corrupted. And, well you're a new-born, so it's not really fair to be annoyed at you. Okay kiddo, who created you?" You stare at her, ''What the hell is wrong with her? I can't speak! I...I should just go, something, somethings not right with this kid''. She smiles at you, "Okay, look, I know we got off on the wrong foot but I'm really very tired, so I'll just make this place baby proof, and you can try not to die okay? Great." She walks off and starts closing books and rubbing symbols off of the blackboard, you watch her and wonder how this could be considered making the room 'baby-safe'. you would love to argue that you're not a baby, you think glumly, but you can't seem to talk at the moment, so you can't. It's frustrating, and a little frightening but you seem to have calmed down somewhat, although your not quite sure why.

The door opens and a man walks in, you dive behind the couch and pray he didn't see you. "Hey there princess, any luck?" Princess? You doubt he's talking to you, you relax.
"Somewhat" she replies "I'm getting some evidence of light, but it's not substantial and not nearly powerful enough."
"All the same, it certainly sounds impressive, may I see?"
"'Fraid your too late, it takes a good amount of set-up, and it's still unstable so it's takes a couple of days just to prepare. I'm still in the early stages so I'm not used to it enough. As soon as I have some decent development I'll let you know." He smirks while watching her clean up.
"Now you've been here now for at least 20 years, and in all that time I haven't once seen you clean up after yourself unless forced, what's wrong sweetie?" She pauses for a second and you can't help but feel guilty, the only reason she's cleaning is becuse of you. She recovers quickly enough though and you wonder just how used to lying she is.
"This version suggests possible concern of heavy poisioning, so I'm making sure nothing happens while I'm out. I'm sure I'll manage to tinker it out in a couple of weeks but you might want to keep clear of this place until then okay?" His smirk vanishes and he starts looking concerned, you can't help but smile to yourself as his tone changes dramatically.
"Oh, right. Well, all the same I expect you back in your room in 10 minutes or your privileges will be suspended until you can properly appreciate them once again. Goodnight princess, and don't forget, 10 minutes!" You hear the door open and close and hear some shuffling, suddenly laughter rings out.
"Okay kiddo I don't have time to explain right now, but your little dive behind the couch almost gave us away. In the future don't worry about being seen so much. Anyways, I've got to go so stay in this room, don't read anything, don't die and oh, I don't know, try to figure out how to talk, and ...touch stuff if you get bored okay? See ya!" You hear the door open and close once more and you wonder what she meant by that. It's annoying to be laughed at by a child, but you realise that she proberly knows a lot more than you currently do. You let out a sigh, what to do next you think to yourself.

The symbols that were on here previously have been rubbed off. Now it's just a chalky mess, more grey than black. You try to write on the balckboard and find your fingers go straight through the chalk to your suprise, you stand there for a while attempting to pick up the chalk and find you are unable to. Strange, you're sure you used to be to pick stuff up. You take a deep breath and concentrate on soothing images, doing your best to not panic. And it works!

You decide, that while this is very odd, you have no idea why it's happening. And the only person you have met that seems remotely helpful has left. So you decide to question her tomorrow....assuming you can work out to talk. You groan, today is not a good day.

You head towards the door and grab the handle. Or at least, thats what you tried to do. Your hand goes dtraqight through the handle! You stand there for a few minutes desperatly trying to turn, or even hold the door handle. Then you get an idea! If you can't touch the handle then maybe you can just walk through the door! You look straight at the door, take a deep breath, and walk forwards.... into the door. Apparently you can't walk through the door. You start pushing at the door, hoping that if you put some effort into it you could go through! But you have no success.

You then decide to try walking through the walls around the room, but you fail to succeed there aswell. Maybe the unable to touch the handle was your imagination? You walk back to the door and try again...once agin your hand passes straight throught the handle. You let out a little whine of frustration and try to work out how to get out of the room! Eventually to try to open the door again, although instead of pushing or trying the handle this time you try to use the handle situation to your advantage. You let your hand through the handle while facing the door, so your hand meet the hole for the handle, and you try to use that to open the door. Unfortunatly although you can't touch the handle to door can, and it can't open unless the handle is turned. You decide to give up and go back to the couch. So leaving isn't an option, what next?

You go to tell her your name... and realise you don't know your own name with a start! You shakily try to tell her this and discover you can't speak, not only can you not soeak but no sound whatsoever is coming out of your mouth! You start clutching at your throat, still struggling to speak.

She gives you a funny look. "Are you....trying to speak? Seriously?" She looks you up and down, somehow her criticizing gaze calms you down someone and you stop grabbing your throat. "You're new. Very new, almost...? No, you can't be." She narrows her eyes, grabbing your chin and dragging you down to her height. She stares straight into your eyes, you notice them changing colour, becoming slightly paler, it surprises you but you're not sure wether it's your imagination or not. "Intresting, your new. Like, newborn new. Strange." She releases you and takes a step back, a hand on her hip and a slight sigh escapes her lips. "You're really very lucky, it just so happens that I have a back-up for the spell you corrupted. And, well you're a new-born, so it's not really fair to be annoyed at you. Okay kiddo, who created you?" You stare at her, ''What the hell is wrong with her? I can't speak! I...I should just go, something, somethings not right with this kid''. She smiles at you, "Okay, look, I know we got off on the wrong foot but I'm really very tired, so I'll just make this place baby proof, and you can try not to die okay? Great." She walks off and starts closing books and rubbing symbols off of the blackboard, you watch her and wonder how this could be considered making the room 'baby-safe'. you would love to argue that you're not a baby, you think glumly, but you can't seem to talk at the moment, so you can't. It's frustrating, and a little frightening but you seem to have calmed down somewhat, although your not quite sure why.

The door opens and a man walks in, you dive behind the couch and pray he didn't see you. "Hey there princess, any luck?" Princess? You doubt he's talking to you, you relax.
"Somewhat" she replies "I'm getting some evidence of light, but it's not substantial and not nearly powerful enough."
"All the same, it certainly sounds impressive, may I see?"
"'Fraid your too late, it takes a good amount of set-up, and it's still unstable so it's takes a couple of days just to prepare. I'm still in the early stages so I'm not used to it enough. As soon as I have some decent development I'll let you know." He smirks while watching her clean up.
"Now you've been here now for at least 20 years, and in all that time I haven't once seen you clean up after yourself unless forced, what's wrong sweetie?" She pauses for a second and you can't help but feel guilty, the only reason she's cleaning is becuse of you. She recovers quickly enough though and you wonder just how used to lying she is.
"This version suggests possible concern of heavy poisioning, so I'm making sure nothing happens while I'm out. I'm sure I'll manage to tinker it out in a couple of weeks but you might want to keep clear of this place until then okay?" His smirk vanishes and he starts looking concerned, you can't help but smile to yourself as his tone changes dramatically.
"Oh, right. Well, all the same I expect you back in your room in 10 minutes or your privileges will be suspended until you can properly appreciate them once again. Goodnight princess, and don't forget, 10 minutes!" You hear the door open and close and hear some shuffling, suddenly laughter rings out.
"Okay kiddo I don't have time to explain right now, but your little dive behind the couch almost gave us away. In the future don't worry about being seen so much. Anyways, I've got to go so stay in this room, don't read anything, don't die and oh, I don't know, try to figure out how to talk, and ...touch stuff if you get bored okay? See ya!" You hear the door open and close once more and you wonder what she meant by that. It's annoying to be laughed at by a child, but you realise that she proberly knows a lot more than you currently do. Huh! You'll show her that you can beat a symbol! You dive towards the bloackboard, she doesn't move, and watches you with mild interest. As soon as you get close to them you feel something happening to you. You were expecting to be swept up in emotions and sensations again, you were sure you could deal with that. Instead there is a strange sort of whispering you can't make out, you freeze once again completly unable to move. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all?

"I am tired and you clearly have a death wish. So, y'know have fun, you've already ruined the magic, I don't care anymore!" You hear the door slam. You start struggling all the harder, there's no one to save you know after all! The whispering intensifies, making your head ache and your vision starts blurring. Suddenly the whispering stops and you breathe out a sigh of relief. You close your eyes briefly, the darkness soothes you. After a couple of minutes you open your eyes, only to find you can't see anything. Just complete darkness. You close your eyes and open them again, nothing changes! Once again, you start panicing when a melody starts playing, it gently calms you, promising you protection. Protection from the world, from magic, from anything and everything that ever hurt you. You relax, you can't help it, you know you shouldn't but you can't stop yourself. It's so comfortable here, why would you ever leave?

You curl into a ball and don't even notice when your very essence is leached from you. By the time the girl comes back into the room there is nothing left of you, not here, not anywhere. You no longer exist.

You appraoch the chair, strangely even as you get closer the words she is uttering doesn't become any clearer. You see a strange mist emanating from her hands, it looks to be glowing slightly. You silently edge closer to her, trying not to disturb her and keeping a wary eye on the strange mist.

Her hands close firmly to form fists, the mist evaporates and she starts speaking in a clearer voice. "Do you know just how many spells there are that forms light? Thousands, thousands of spells and there all so, so pernickety! Urrrgh! It's so stupid" She stands up on the chair and lean against the back, you notice that she's wearing a simple, summer dress and has long, white hair. She's short and looks frail and her voice takes on a mocking tone. "Your not the right species, you have the wrong blood type. Your hair is the wrong colour! You live in a village, you believe in the wrong religion, your father was a blacksmith! You sneezed yesterday, your not pregnant, you were out at night, you looked at a feaking daffodil!" She looks exhausted and really very angry. "It's so stupid! Why? Why does it matter! It shouldn't matter, magic doesn't care so why are these spells so, so stupid!" She looks you straight in the eye, you notice her eyes are a birght purple colour and her stare feels intense, it pins you where you stand. "I have spent the last 12 years trying to make one pure, unified spell that isn't so stupidly complicated. I am so, so close, I can taste the success. And on the day that I actually get somewhere, when I start forming light, when it finially works some guy sneaks up on me. Funny coincidence right?!" She has a bright, manic smile and you start feeling that maybe this wasn't the best of ideas. "I have dealt with your kind before boy and I am in no mood to play games. Now you are going to answer my questions and if your really, very lucky I might not kill you!" She keeps glaring at you.

You look at her, considering, she's a child and she can't follow through with any of her threats but she certaintly doesn't look like she's bluffing. Judging by the look of the room she's rich, so presumably she has guards? Right?
You look to the right, the door isn't very far away, you should be able to make it. Your eyes flicker back to the girl, maybe you owe her an explaination, you did sneak up on her after all. Then again, maybe you should try to talk some sense into this girl. You could easily overpower her, and she's starting to annoy you.

This is a fantasy adventure story set in a world where magic exists and strange things happen. There will be little explaination, although I will be doing my best to make sure everything makes sense! There won't be exact explainations as such because in the time this story is set in no one really knows why things happen the way they do or wether theres any real sense to it. However things will largely be consistent, there are rules, they're just big and complicated and completly unknown.

You will be following the main character and discovering just what is going on around you. If your lucky, this might answer some questions!

Something about the symbols look... familiar somehow. You walk towards them. They appear to be glowing.

You can't quite explain it but, you sense a purpose from them, a meaning. You stare at them, willing them to show you their meaning.
Suddenly images start appearing, sounds surround you -''Joy...light..laughter..children playing...a picnic...a piano playing...''-
The sensations keep coming and you realise you can't free yourself from them. You start to panic but you realise you can't move!

You hear a noise from behind you, the person from the chair? You have a sudden urge to hide but you can't move, you realise you're completly at this persons mercy. To attempt to move again but before you can do anything -''the taste of snow...a feeling of weightlessness...a bright white light...birds singing...a womans voice''-

"Nononononono Don't touch that!" The woman attempts to scramble over the back of the chair, but only ends up tipping the chair over a sprawling over the floor, paper goes flying. She seems to be panicing, and you desperatly try to move, the sensations are starting to hurt, you need to get out! "Okay, okay I can fix this. I just, I just.....aaaah okay, okay, ummmm, shaaaa!" She takes a deep breath and appears to calm down somewhat. You however, are still frantically trying to move, and failing misreably.

"Okay, okay so this, this should hurt....lots but yeah. Next time no bad touch!" She glares at you, then backs up a bit and hurls herself at you. You feel a bit of resistance and then your free! You find yourself sprawled on the ground, freedom! But, the agony! Your entire body screams in pain, and you feel a need to touch the symbols again, to be near them. Like they could comfort you somehow. Why did she take you from them! They were only tring to help! You try to get up but the strange woman jumps ontop of you and holds you tightly. She forces your arms to your sides, and you find you can't move them at all, you struggle for a moment but give up when there is no progress. This woman is strong!

"Listen to me! It's trying to force you back to it but you have to fight it! Regain control, it's a symbol for crying outloud! Your will is stronger than it! Fight!" You feel yourself calming down somewhat, you still feel the need, the want, the pain, but it's lessening. You try not to think of it, and your mind quickly wanders onto the woman desperatly clutching you. She's wearing a simple, summer dress and has long, white hair. She's short and looks frail, you wonder how she's managing to restrain you? Her eyes are closed tightly and she's panting. You feel her shivering on you. She looks up, into your eyes. Her eyes are bright purple, it entrances you. She stands up. Now that you have a clear view of her you wonder why you thought of her as a woman? She looks young, and is a couple of heads shorter than you. How did this child overpower you?!

"Do you have ANY idea how long it took me to set this up? I was close, so, so close!" She paces back towards the blackboard, you remain where you are, hesitant to go back towards it. "Why did I even bother to free you from it? I mean, it's already ruined. I...I almost had it." She faces you, glaring.
"Who the heck are you? I don't recognise you, and how exactly did you get in? This room is dead-locked, and it's not even like you people like going near us! Your kind tend to have more sense! And letting a symbol effect you? Just how pathetic are you?!" Your head aches slightly and you wonder wether you truely earned this assult. You have a strong urge to run and be free of this place, but this child just saved you, surely she deserves an explanation?

Finally. Finally you are at peace, and all is right with the world. Everything has come to it's natural conclusion and now is the time for rest.

Nothingness.

Stillness.

Peace.

Except...except something feels wrong. Something feels bad, you don't know what but something here feels strange.
But should I care? Let someone else worry, I have earnt this, so why not enjoy?
Yes. A rest well earned. You relax, basking in the wonderous feeling enveloping you.
But... was this truely earned? How? What exactly have I spent my life doing?
I....I can't remember. Why can't I remember? I should be able to remember!

No.
No this is wrong. What's going on, no! Let me out!
I can't stay here!

You see a light, gently glowing. It comforts you somehow.
You lose awareness.

You slowly become aware of your surroundings.

You are lying on a red leather couch facing a large bay window. It's dark outside and you can't see a lot, nighttime you realise. The window doesn't seem to have curtain, you wonder why. You walk around the couch and face the face end of the room. The walls are lined with bookcases, packed to the brim with books and scrolls. A large amount of books are also scattered around the room, with paper also dotted around the room, seemlingly with little order to it. You get the impression someone spends a great amount of time here, presumably reading.
To your left is a grand fireplace sandwiched between the bookcases, the fire has is almost out and is emitting little light. To your right is a black board, covered in strange symbols. In front of you is a desk, with mounds of scrolls and paper on it, and a small candle just barely lighting the room with the fire in the fireplace. Behind the desk is a closed door. In the corner to your left is a large armchair, it looks similar to the couch. It's facing the corner and surrounded by mounds of paper and inkpots, you hear mutterings coming from it.

==Creating a Story==
If you have an idea for a story, you might like to try [[Idea Pitches|pitching your idea to other users]] and seeing how interested people might be in playing your story, what you could do to make playing your story fun, and who might be interested in collaborating with you to write it. Once you have done that, you can create it by entering your desired name for the Story into the search box and clicking '''Go'''. If the name has not already been taken, click this exact title to start the story. There are three general types of story. The first is the branching-plot story (an example of this is the Choose Your Own Adventure series of gamebooks), which require the reader to make choices but are otherwise like a regular novel. The second type is the role-playing game adventure, which combines the branching-plot novel with simple role-playing rules such as attack points and monster battles. The third type is the trivia quiz, where the player must answer questions as if they were on a game show.

The next to the last line here is the ''status indicator''. The status indicator shown here is the ''basic'' status indicator. Different stories use different status indicators, and some use none at all. Look at the edit screen for the page you're starting from and copy that status indicator to the new page you're adding. Modify as necessary.

Every page should have the category at the bottom. This keeps track of all the pages in the story. You can copy the category line from the previous page to the one you're working on. The category, obviously, is ''never'' 'name of story you're working on'. You type in the actual name of the story.

*Don't give too many options when starting a new story and leave half of them redlinked. Focus on a small number of story threads at first.
*Outline a general plan for what the intention of your story is when you start it: What genre and themes it belongs to.

People have a tendency to create branches where the character dies. To prevent the story from being just a tree with all dead ends:
*For each page where you kill the player's character, you must create at least 2 pages (with content) where s/he can go on.
*Please stick to the theme and setting of the story, and discuss ideas for major changes on the discussion pages. Although creativity is encouraged, radical plot changes and inconsistencies will ruin the flow.
*If something is off topic, remove it.
*Try to capitalize and spell your words correctly.
