You've sat still too long to sit any more. Its cold and the uncertainty and the fear, its just too much. You can't shut your mind off. The woman in the chair -Marill- appears to be asleep, Jensen's staring at his map table as if frowning at it will change something and the man at the console in front of you is... well, he's concentrating on it even though he hasn't done anything in twenty minutes. The only person who seems the least bit bored is the man to your right, the one in the headset and at the back of the room near the strangely glowing red eye.

You get painfully to your feet. Jensen notices immediately and his hand is on the hilt of his sword almost faster than you could see it move, but then, maybe realizing that you aren't a threat, relaxes. He still watches you, though, like a teacher waiting for a student to make a mistake so that an example can be made.

Quietly, you introduce yourself as best you can considering you don't remember your own name. "I'm Hudson," he says. "I run things."
"You're in charge?" you ask, suspiciously.
"No, she's the boss here," he says, jerking a thumb at the sleeping woman behind him. Unlike everyone else, his displays were against the wall, facing away from the window. "And this," he continued, "is Dave."
Now he's pointing at the red eye. It isn't like a real eye, more like a glass lens in a black metal panel. There's a wavering red glow in the heart of the glass, deep inside the panel and while its obviously electronic it still manages to convey the impression that it's watching you.
"Hello... Dave?" you say, but the glowing lens doesn't respond.
In spite of the tense atmosphere, you feel a little silly.

"What's... going on?" you ask, trying to pretend your embarassment away.

"Not much," he says. "It's very quiet. No radio chatter at all. Nobody's talking, or nobody's left."

You glance back, over your shoulder at the darkness behind the glass. You can't see anything but this isn't as reassuring as it was before. You suddenly don't feel like talking.

You walk back to where you'd been sitting. The stones are still faintly warm from the past few hours you'd been sitting there. You shiver, not entirely because of the cold, and wait for morning.
Unicorn and the Raven/Talk to Arkley

CatsPaw13:

You can't sit still any longer. You have to stretch your legs and try to find out what's going on; the uncertianty, the fear, the cold, its all to much for you.

The closes person to you is the man at the console. As you get to your feet, Jensen's head snaps up and his hand goes to the hilt of his sword but after glancing at the sleeping woman in the chair he relaxes. He keeps his eye on you as you approach the man at the console but doesn't interfere.

"Hi, you say. I'm..." and you suddenly remmeber that part of introducing yourself is knowing your own name. You don't. "I'm wondering if you can tell me what's going on."

"Arkley," he says. "And we're at case black as you can see. Please don't distract me."
"Distract you from what?" you ask. The man's just sitting there, its not as if he's even doing anything anymore.
"I'm handling manual offensive and defensive fire control."

You look down at the console's display board. Some of the controls and indicators you can understand intuitively, now that you know what it is that he's supposed to be doing. But he hasn't done anything for the last twenty minutes at least and most of the displays are either dead or displaying a worrying crimson. The board couldn't be more read if someone had spilled paint on it.

You shake your head and start to walk back to your corner. Maybe the spot you were sitting is still faintly warm. Before you get there, Jensen catches your eye and beckons you over.

"Don't bother any of them," he says to you in a whisper. They -we- were created to perform certian tasks and while we know a lot about our area of expertise we don't know much else, nor do we have much in the way of will. Arkley can't tell you anything that you need to know. He doesn't know anything beyond his job. He doesn't really have the ability to chose to or to not answer your questions, either."

You look back at Arkley. You see that he's studying the displays intently but isn't actually doing anything.

"There's nothing for him to do," whispers Jensen, explaining. "But he won't abandon his post. They're very single-minded that way, although they're really more flexible than I make them sound. Marill created us that way."

"What about you? You seem to know whats going on. Can you help me?" you ask.

"Yes, I probably could. Unlike them, I can choose to. What I choose, though, is to not tell you anything more. Marill will tell you what you need to know in the morning, if that ever comes."

You can get no more out of him. You stalk back to your corner and sit, occasionally shivering in the silent, chilly room as you wait for morning.
Unicorn and the Raven/Talk to Jensen

CatsPaw13: Created page with 'You're apprehensive about talking to all these strange people but you just can't sit still. The uncertianty and the fear eat at you and besides, you think you can hear chittering…'

You're apprehensive about talking to all these strange people but you just can't sit still. The uncertianty and the fear eat at you and besides, you think you can hear chittering through the wall you were leaning against.
The woman in the chair is asleep, and you wouldn't want to draw her attention anyway. She doesn't scare you in the same way that the things in the dark outside the glass do but she's frightening all the same. It isn't that she's scary per se, but there's an... intensity about her, and you can't help but wonder about her sanity.
Jensen is your best bet as far as information is concerned. Hudson hasn't said a word to you yet and neither has the man in the at the console. None of them look particularly friendly, but can you blame them?

Quietly you get up, momentarily wincing as your joints straighten. How long had you been sitting there, anyway?

Jensen notices your movement and his hand goes to the hilt of his sword but he glances at the sleeping woman in the chair and then his hand relaxes. Maybe he doesn't see you as much of a threat. Nevertheless, you have his full attention as you make your way around the unoccupied console to the map table.

In the silence of the room even your whisper seems loud. "I can't stand it anymore," you say. "What's going on here?"
He looks hard at you, studying your face, although you don't know what he's looking for.
"You really don't know?" he asks at last, as if the possibility that you don't know everything that's going on is unthinkable.
"No, I don't. How could I?" you reply.
He studies you again, and seems to reach a decision.
"We are here," he says quietly, "to fight an enemy that cannot be killed."
"Those creatures?" you ask, feeling a cold lump in the pit of your stomach. You'd seen those creatures in the flashes of light. They were fearosme enough when you you didn't know that they couldn't be-
"No, not them. We don't know what those are. We were created to fight the shadows, as you should know."
"Shadows? Like light and dark?" Now he looks honestly puzzled.
"You don't know? We all know about the shadows. They're... sort of there and not there. Not really solid, kind of like shapes of... darkness. They're not like us. They don't follow the same rules. How could you not know?"
You don't answer him. What could you possibly say?
"Or...," he continues, as if examining an interesting and novel new idea, "Marill isn't from here. She comes from outside, from some other world and here she has the power to... to create things, by thinking them, or at least she did. She created all of us, everything here."

"Those creatures too?" you ask, trying to find a foothold against this rising tide of ridiculousness.

"No, not them," Jensen says. "And not this place. We, too, were somewhere else, this whole installation, everything. Now we're here and I don't know any more than anyone else. Marill might, but it isn't in your best interest to try and ask her. She hasn't slept for as long as I've been here and she needs her rest."

You follow his gaze to the sleeping woman in her chair behind the central console. If this were anywhere else, you'd call a doctor. And then there's another, more curious thought. ''What's a doctor?''

You try to get Jensen to tell you more, however crazy it is. All he'll do is shrug and say that he's probably told you more than he should have, more than anyone else would except Marill. Eventually you give up and sit back down to wait for a dawn that may never come.

The rest of the night is relatively uneventful. You see the flashes of light but try not to look, lest you once again behold the nightmare scene unfolding outside the hopefully thick glass. Its quiet like a library, like a tomb. Sometimes the woman in the chair asks a question and Jensen, the man at the map table would answer, or sometimes it would be someone else. Her voice is calm and soft and sounds as if she's half asleep but there's no other sound. From time to time the room shakes and trembles but there's no actual sound. In that silence, from time to time, you think you hear chittering from outside, on the other side of the door. You're glad you stayed here instead of making a run for it.

The flashes of light from outside don't come as often now, and finally she orders them to cease fire and seal the towers, whatever that means. Hudson, the man in the very back of the room apparently relays the message with his equipment and then the lights taper off to nothing and its pitch black outside. The dark frightens you as much as the inability to see the horde of nightmare creatures calms your nerves. You don't know how it is that Jensen can stay so close to the glass, to the horribly ''open'' front of the room.

The night passes.

You try to stay quiet, to stay out of everybody's way, but that isn't all that hard. Nobody except Jensen moves around very much and the woman in the chair seems to have fallen asleep. Its cold and there's a kind of infectious hopelessness in the air. Its like a night where you don't know if the sun will ever rise again. It eats at you. The cold uncertianty, and the boredom as well. It feels like you have ants under your skin.

"I'm sorry, I don't know," you say, hoping she'll believe you. "I found myself in the forest, lying on the ground under a tree. I had no idea who I was or how I got there, and I still don't. I remember a raven and a unicorn, and then I found myself standing here."

She seems to be considering her story. You don't think she believes you, but she decides not to press the matter for now.

"I suppose it doesn't matter," she says at last. "You're the least of my worries."

She stares at you for a moment longer, then her features seem to sag almost imperceptably back into the chair. "Well, you're here with us now."

There's an awkward silence. Then she indicates the man who'd been standing by the table. He'd sheathed his sword by now and was standing next to the chair occupied by the strange woman. "This is captain Jensen," she said. "Do what he says and don't touch anything."

The man takes you by the arm and leads you to the front of the room, in front of the window. The table that you'd seen him leaning over earlier turns out to be a map table, now mostly covered in red dots and lines. You aren't familiar with topographics, but this map seems to be both flat and three dimensional at the same time. You reach out to touch the strange map, and he grabs your hand. His grip is hard and cold and you wince as he squeezes your wrist.

"Touch NOTHING!" he hisses at you, glancing towards the woman in the chair.

Eventually he releases your wrist.

"I'm sorry," he says to you, when its obvious she isn't going to add anything. "This isn't a normal map. It doesn't just represent the terrain outside, it ''is'' the terrain outside as well, and right now outside is very dangerous. He indicates the window.

From just in front of it you can see in the flashes of light that it isn't just a few towers outside, but a huge complex of towers and walls and buildings. This place is a fortress, and you seem to be near the top of one of the tallest towers. Each of the other towers seems to be topped with a strange looking weapon platform. Many are dark and swarming with the creatures, but some towers are still shooting bolts of what looks like blue and white and sometimes red flame outwards. In the flashes of light you can see people on around the strange looking weapons, fighting with the creatures, trying to keep them from overrunning the tops of the towers. On the top of one tower, off to your left, you suddenly notice what looks like little blue fireflies dancing around. It looks almost pretty, the little points of light dancing in the dark.

Jensen notices it too.

"Ma'am?" he says uncertainly. "You might want to take a look at tower six..." his voice tapers off.

Suddenly, the woman is ''right there'', injured shoulder or not. She's standing by Jensen, staring out at the little dancing lights with a look of horror on her face.

"Hudson!" she snaps, her voice not tired at all anymore but harsh and sharp. "Get me tower six, now! Tell them-"

The rest of her words are swallowed up by a silence. It's strange, because you can still see her lips move but you can't hear her words, and then there's the brightest electric blue light you've ever seen. You look back, out the window just in time to see an orb of light where the tower with the blue fireflies had been. It's not like a real light but a solid glowing sphere that slowly fades into black and is gone. In its wake, in the flashes of light from the few other towers that were still firing you see a huge crater, as perfectly spherical as if someone had taken a giant ice cream scoop to the fortress, exposing halls and rooms and passages. The top of another tower is gone as well, and also half the side of a third.

"They used the anti-shadow bolts as spears," she said quietly, and apparently to herself. "one of them must have detonated and taken the rest with them..."

"Hudson," she says again, more quietly this time. "Get major Piper if you can for me. Tell her what happened if she didn't already know and make sure she passes the word along to anyone left. If the tower's armory had detonated instead of... whatever happened, we'd all be dead."

"Umm... Hello?" you say uncertainly. Your voice is quiet, little more than a whisper, but the sound seems deafening in the terrible silence of the room. They all turn to look at you, and the man by the table in the front of the room draws his sword and starts towards you.

"Who are you?" ask's a woman's voice. It sounds tired and sad, but there's a bit of ice in it, too. "How did you get here?"

Before you can answer, a man at one of the consoles starts to get up and draw his sword as well. "Arkley, stay where you are," the same voice said, and this time there was a tone of command in it.

"Yes ma'am," the voice says, but there's an undertone of uncertainty in it.

The chair in the center of the room swivels towards you, and you see the owner of the voice clearly for the first time. She's young and, under dirt grime and blood her face is still pretty, if worringly pale. There are dark circles under her eyes and it looks to you like she hasn't slept in days. Though she's wearing a similar, if somewhat more gothic style uniform, you can see gashes in the fabric of one shoulder, and the dark material is colored even darker with blood. She's clearly tired and injured and though she appears to be unarmed it seems to you that she's still the most dangerous person in the room.

"I... I don't know," you stammer, aware that she probably won't believe your story anyway. "And I don't know who I am. I woke up in the forest and now I'm here."

"I don't believe you," she says.

Her eyes looked tired before, but now they're cold and piercing. Most of the fatigue is gone from her voice as well.

You decided you don't want any part of strange trees, unicorns or ravens. Ignoring the tree and the raven, you walk towards the unicorn. When you get to the path, though, instead of following it you head off in the opposite direction. Looking back over your shoulder, you see the unicorn staring at you. The raven has already flown off.

Suddenly, you trip over something in the path.

Messing with strange, shimmering trees may not be the wisest of ideas after all. You consider your options for a moment. You can go with the raven, you can go with the unicorn... or, it occurs to you, you can strike out on your own and not follow either of them. There's a path, after all, and its bound to take you somewhere whether you follow the unicorn or not. Of course, you can still try and touch the shimmering bark if you want...

CatsPaw13:

Your reflexes kick in. You don't know where you are or who these people are but you know you don't want to be here. Your hand siezes on a handle and you jerk the heavy door open, jump through and force it shut behind you.

You find yourself outside the room on a spiral staircase. The stairs are mostly stone and copper but everything is lit with the same hellish red light, only here its barely bright enough to see. The stairs spiral downwards into darkness and, glancing behind you, you see that they continue upwards as well. Disoriented, you wonder which way you should run. You choose to head down.

Just then, a traitorous thought appears from the very back of your mind.
No one is chasing you.

From the darkness in front of you, you just have time to detect a chittering sound, almost insect-like, before one of the creatures leaps at you. You have a vague impression of teeth and claws and horribly distorted proportions before everything fades to black.
Unicorn and the Raven/You have died

CatsPaw13:

You find yourself standing in a black desert beneath a starry sky. Though it should be dark, you can see everything clearly and you have a moment to wonder about why you feel neither hot nor cold before you hear a hollow voice calling your name. Suddenly, you remember. Not exactly what happened to you, that part is a little bit confused, but you can suddenly remember your name and who you are.
With that memory comes recognition, and the terrible, certain understanding of where you are.
You've read about this place.
This is the desert, the ''last'' desert, which means that the voice addressing you belongs to-

''"You have come here once again,"'' the hollow voice of Death reaches your awareness without passing through your ears, which you no longer actually possess.

You turn to face the direction your understanding tells you the voice came from, and there you see Death, a dark, shrouded figure holding a scythe whose blade gleams and sparkles in the starlight. Though you can't make out the face concealed within the robe, you see the scythe is clutched in a skeletal hand.

''"You have come here many times, and many times you have refused to journey across the desert. It is not within my power to force you to make the journey, and to you it is permitted that you may attempt once more to correct your mistakes. But know that you will be sent back without the knowledge of yourself or your previous experiences. Will you walk the desert, or do you choose to return, and live your past journey over yet again?"''

You aren't certain what Death is talking about, but you aren't certain that you want to be dead, either. It seems that for some reason you're being offered a chance to go back and make things right.
Do you give up, and walk the desert in search of whatever may await you there, or do you begin again?

Curious, you make your way towards the sound. The unicorn shakes his had at you, as if its telling you to leave the sound alone, but doesn't actually interfere. Cautiously, you make your way towards the ruined building. Its an organic sound, something made by living creatures, but like everything else in your past that you try to think about it just slips away.
"We're ready, boss. I have a pretty good idea what you want to do."

"I need this tower cleared and held. Everyone in this complex is to fall back here except for the towers that are still operational. Give them fifteen minutes. After that I need all platforms that are still operational to fire on this place and turn everything but this tower into rubble. It won't matter."

You can't help but wonder if this woman is insane. Maybe you should have gone with the unicorn instead, or at least the raven. At least then you wouldn't have gotten caught up in this nightmare.
"Hard to tell. If it really is another portal, it could go anywhere. Maybe somewhere worse than here."

"Unicorns and ravens doesn't sound any worse than were were are now, captain, wouldn't you say?"

"I wouldn't know about that, ma'am," he replies. "None of us have ever been anywhere else."

The woman in the chair, Marill, turns back to you. "I don't know if you understand any of what's going on," she says, and there may not be time to explain. But what you came through is what we- what I- call a portal. Its sort of a corridor between different realities. The spiders could do it, move between worlds, but... none of that matters. As you can probably tell we're in a tight spot. Those of us in this room should be safe but the rest of my people aren't. If you came through one way, maybe we can go back to where you came from."

She pauses and looks at you, and you hope your face doesn't give away how bewildered you feel. You have no idea what she's talking about.

"Things here are... breaking down. All of us here are prepared to die, but there's a difference between maybe dying for a good cause and certianly dying for nothing which is what will happen if we stay here. Its entirely possible that, even if I can get your portal open again from this end,
that it'll be unstable and we might die anyway. To complicate matters, there are the creatures. To have any chance at all of getting anybody but us out, a good part of my people will have to sacrifice themselves. There were made to be soldiers, so they're okay with that. I'm not."

It seems she isn't sure what to do. It looks like the deciding vote is yours.

"I won't help you until you give me some answers!" you insist, unwisely as it turns out.

She stares at you a moment longer.

"Captain!" she snaps.

The man you'd noticed earlier at the table in front of the window hadn't moved during this time, nor had anyone else. Now he slowly walks around the table and the two fire control consoles and stands next to Marill.

"Jensen," she says, and her voice is now the same tired voice you'd heard earlier, as if she'd used all the energy she had left, "make it quick."
"Are you sure, ma'am?" he replies, uncertainly.
"This person is of no further use to me," she says. "I have too many people to protect already. I don't want this person to die with us. I just wish that our deaths would be so easy."

The man in the dark uniform drew his sword.

You look for something in his eyes, some pity or mercy or something, but you see only the same sorrow you saw in her eyes.

"You don't have to do this," you say to him, knowing that it won't change what's about to happen.

"I know," he replies. "I don't have to, and so I choose to. But she's right. You shouldn't have to die with us."

The stroke is quick and sure and the quantum properties of the blade ensure a precision that otherwise only a master swordsman would be able to achieve otherwise. You hardly feel a thing.
== Your Q, and A ==

Hello CatsPaw13. The category Platypus was talking about means, on each new page of your story, you will add <nowiki>[[Category:Your Story Name]]</nowiki> (Please make sure you change "Your Story Name" to the actual name of your story). It should be the same for every page that you create for that story.

As for the question of which category, that depends what material you will put in it. Think of it like movies. Family Friendly = G, PG-13 is, well, PG-13, Mature = R, Adult = NC-17.

You can check wikipedia to get a sense: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_Picture_Association_of_America_film_rating_system

{| class=wikitable toccolors cellpadding="4" align=center
!style="background:#ccf; align: left;"| Meaning
|-
|
; '''G – General Audiences'''
: All ages admitted. This movie contains nothing that would offend parents for viewing by children.
: Such films may contain only mild violence or crude humor, and may have no nudity, sex, drugs or coarse (as distinct from impolite) language. The discrimination/bullying and emotional intensity must be minimal. Alcohol and tobacco may be used in small amounts by adults in the movie, but not by minors, especially in older G-rated films. The violence or horror must be cartoonish in nature or minimal in quantity
|-
|
; '''PG – Parental Guidance Suggested'''
: Some material may not be suitable for children. Parents are urged to give parental guidance as the motion picture contains some material that parents might not find suitable for their pre-teenagers.
|-
|
; '''PG-13 – Parents Strongly Cautioned'''
: Parents are urged to be cautious as the motion picture contains some material that parents might consider inappropriate for children under 13 years.
|-
|
; '''R – Restricted'''
: People under 17 years may only be admitted if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
|-
|
; '''NC-17 – Adults Only'''
: This film is exclusively adult and people aged 17 years and under are not admitted.
--[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 02:27, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

I realize all that. I know -now- to add a the category at the bottom, in fact I think Platypus fixed the pages that were missing it for me.

I also know more or less what content gets what rating. However, I do not know which category my story is in. Currently it contains no particularly adult content, but is it ok for me to add some? To put it another way, if I add adult content will my story suddenly BECOME adult?

You don't know where you are or what's going on but you're starting to get scared. One thing you do know is that you don't want to be here.

Looking to your right, you discover that not everyone is staring at the nightmare going on outside. There's somebody else that you didn't see before sitting at a board built into the back wall of the room, and he's looking right at you. Though he's wearing the same uniform as everybody else, he's also wearing what looks suspiciously like an old set of radio operator's headphones.

He doesn't seem to be alarmed or particularly worried by your presence, and perhaps given what's happening outside you just don't matter all that much.

He nonchalantly leans back and turns towards the chair in the center of the room, the one who's occupant you can't clearly see.

"We've got a visitor, boss," he says. "One of yours?"

"No, Hudson, not my doing," comes the reply, a female voice nearly indistinct with sorrow and fatigue. "This is something else."

The chair in the center of the room turns and you see the occupant for the first time. Its hard to tell in this dim, red light but under the blood and grime and dissheveled hair she's still pretty. Her face is pale, though, even in this light, and although none of ''that'' makes it into her voice its clear from the way she holds her shoulder and the gashes in the fabric of her uniform that covers it its clear she's in pain. She also seems more ''real'', in some indefinable way, than anybody else in the room.

The chair finishes its revolution and she looks straight at you. You don't like her eyes; its clear that she's gone without sleep for a long time and the whatever sorry is in her voice you can also see in her face, but there's a dark anger in her eyes as well, and you suddenly find yourself wondering if maybe you'd be better off outside with the nightmare creatures.

"Who are you," she asks, her voice suddenly calm and even as if she'd put on a mask and become someone else, "and how did you find your way into my world?"

"I don't know," you reply, knowing how ridiculous your answer sounds.

She studies you a moment, then her eyes soften just tiny bit.

"I believe you," she says. "And for your sake, I'm sorry. If you knew how you'd got here, you might be able to get back out. Now you'll probably die with us."

"I... came through a tree," You say. "I woke up in a forest of strange trees and there was a raven and a unicorn. The bark of the big tree where I woke up was strange and it didn't seem real so I closed my eyes and walked through it. And... I was here. That's all I know. I don't know where I was or am or even who I am!"

She continues to stare at you in silence for a long time, and you realize she isn't staring at you but at the wall behind you.

"Show me," she said at last, "exactly where you were standing when you... realized you were here."
Hello. First of all, I want to thank you for all the work you put in this page, making it more enjoyable for all of us. Second, I want to know something. Namely if it is okay, if an artist would post a link to this page, to be more precise to the story [[Hot and Horny]]. Thing is, I have paid the artist to paint a scene from the story and would ask him to include a link to the story in the description when he posts it on "Hentai Foundry". Would that be okay with you? - [[User:Wassersaeufer|Wassersaeufer]] 12:19 19th March 2014 (UTC)
Hello, its me again. Thank you to Dirty Me for his help in solving my Bolded text issue. Anyway, I was wondering if I have to put a disclaimers note in my story [[Percy Jackson God Of All]], and if it is okay to put some funny dialogue from an anonymous writer in there? The story The World's End is mine. I started it back in 2008/2007. I should have rights to edit the pages as I see fit. Someone that took the time to write one page does not have control over everything. Please let me have creative license over my work. It is not my intention to rip apart others contributions, but sometimes I need to clean things up and add some things to the story. Anyways, I don't think anyone else has contributed to my story for about three years, I don't think they will be mad if I change a few sentences or delete something so it makes more sense.
Thanks for the helpful tips on punctuating dialogue! Gosh, you'd think I would know a simple grammatical rule like that. Horribly embarrassing, but I guess you learn something new every day! ;D
Thank you so much for helping us abide by the categories. I actually am teaching a class of 12-14 year olds in Santiago in a two-week course of creative writing. We are really enjoying this create-your-own-adventure site but did notice that one of our pages were deleted. What would you suggest we do to prevent this happening again? Would you like us to each make our own account?
Hey, I messaged you once before, and was now curious about something. Is there a way to find out when new pages within your story are added? I ask this because I come on weekly, and hate having to travel through every option to see if there is anything new. I was also wondering if you had your own website somewhere, and if you did, could you share it? Thank you.
I put up a couple of stories last night, one of which I found in a folder which I thought I had posted a long time ago, the other of which I wrote in a bit of a hurry. For that reason, I must have forgotten to make sure that they conformed to your preferred punctuation style, and I apologize for that.
I appreciate you showing what I did wrong with my last entry, that really helped me. Thank you for showing me how to add the category into the story, I was trying to do that, but gave up. turns out i was almost there :)
Anyway I was wondering if you could tell me how to make different lines in a single story merge.
In other words if one decision was made, how do I make the lines merge with a bit down the line decisions of a different set.
What I am getting at is that if you choose a path it may lead to being captured or death.
if you choose the other path one of the decisions in that path could have the same result.
So instead of retyping it, I want to know how to direct the page to that same ending, especially if I think that ending was writen well?
I'm cool with you editing and deleting my posts, it shows that you care about the quality of the story. I'd like to apologize for any annoyance I may have caused. Also, about the thing with who was in the car, I assumed that the choices being made were more what the person reading would want to happen, not what the actual character in the story was making. Addition -
Platypus, question. I want to create a page in my story but not linked to my story where I can keep a log of where my links are and where they are broken.
I can probably do it on my PC, but I am editing from both home and work, so feel it would be easier if I can just have a link log or something where I keep track of my forks without having to go through it multiple times.

Is this acceptable to do? I just want to make sure.

--[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 13:57, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

So, just checking. Do I seem to be doing fine right now? I know I occasionally post a long story in a link, then have no additional options and change the stuff in that link. I am just laying in the base for the branch I am working on, and will remove/add/edit/modify everything as I progress. You can see my most recent path if you are worried about that, so you can see how I work on it and bring it to the final stage. Just wanted to mention that, since I am still doing alot of work on it. --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 10:37, 3 March 2014 (UTC)

Hmm, think I have a problem. I tried to create a template so I could have a hide text thing, and think I did something wrong, because I keep getting <nowiki>Template loop detected: Template:Hidden begin Template loop detected: Template:Hidden begin Template loop detected: Template:Hidden end</nowiki>. Any idea what I am doing wrong? I tried it from the standard wikipedia, but, it doesn't seem to be working D: --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 09:20, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Actually, what I am trying to do is this (Which you can see is a problem if you check the [[Dirty Me/Storyboard]]:

Opening [show]
*Nothing seen here

Click the show,

Opening [hide]
*path 1 [show]
*path 2 [show]
*path 3 [show]

Then, I can create the page paths, so, for example, someone is reading through, then gets to a certain point and needs to leave, they can just go to the Storyboard, look up the path they see, and go directly to it. It seems nicer than the category page, so you can see what choices lead to what paths. I guess I saw Uman's, and liked it, but wanted to make the entire story path so you could just look up options quickly and decide where you want to go. But right now, my opening, with all paths shown until the end of it, is over 900 lines, which won't really be nice for anyone to use. Instead, it is just a mess D: --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 13:05, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

If we can figure it out, it would be nice, but no worries. Sorry, I have created a few pages for you to delete, since it isn't really worth it to try without being able to hide.
The pages I guess that I wasted trying this, and that aren't needed are:
[[Template:Dirty Me/hidden begin]], [[Template:Hidden begin]], [[Template:Hidden end]], and think I accidentally created [[Template:Documentation]]. If we can't really find a way to do it, I think my storyboard idea is useless, but guess we can wait for a little to see if someone knows how to before deleting it. Sorry for the mess/headache D: --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 13:37, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for deleting the pages, and sorry for the mess. Also, thanks for fixing the +annabeth thing. I didn't notice I deleted the wrong part. I saw it had some warning thing about resources or whatever, so I was trying to delete some of the PAGESINCAT things I was using. It helps for finding stories that don't have much, but guess it gives some problems or whatever. I will just use it for the currently active stories now. Now to see what else I want to do. Maybe I will look at Uman's thing and try that for my storyboard. idk, we will see xD --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 16:12, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
Platypus, sorry, I thought I had fixed Blazetempest's issues a bit more. I wasn't sure what to do with it, and it was a bit poorly written, but I thought I at least made it more sensible. It may be my fault, since I was unsure if the story was written from an "I" or "You" point, so I left his pronoun style the same, and just adjusted some of the other grammatical mistakes. --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 16:29, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
I am wondering. I have been looking around this wiki, other wikis, features, pages, etc, and have noticed that overall, our front page is rather ugly, that there are additional tools that may be useful (For example, one had a "forum" area where things could be reported, or just discussions or whatever), and that overall it seems like some things need to be rethought. I don't really have any answers for these issues, but I was wondering if you have had any thoughts about all this. I am willing to help try to come up with some better things like the Copyright notice, maybe try to help a little with the grammar section, and the forums idea, but when it comes to trying to think of how to clean up the home page, or make some other useful pages, I have no idea where to even start. Just a little overwhelming I guess. Do you have any ideas for any of this? Basically, it just seems that it could be organized better than we currently have, and look better. --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 09:16, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
Well, think I have some more organizing done. I moved a few things to the pit and have been going through the adult stories and adding them to the <nowiki>[[Category:Adult Stories]]</nowiki> category. --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 14:35, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
Please move from family section as it has.kicking in the balls etc

(About Dadrocks' change to the front page) Platypus, I read the message on his page, and in his defense, I don't think he changed the Harry Potter thing on the front page for vandalism, but to try to request it be moved to a different section since he seems to feel it was no longer family friendly due to his addition. I understand why it is inappropriate, but, I think it is more an act of (insert reference to lights and no one being home here), rather than malicious intent. Just wanted to mention how it seems so there are no hard feelings because of a misunderstanding. Of course, there is the question of quality to his changes...but that is a different issue... --[[User:DirtyMeStoryTime|Dirty Me]] 09:10, 5 March 2014 (UTC)

I saw your edits to my story. I believe you... warned, as it were, me about not adding categories. I'd like to thank you, since I'm so new I didn't fully understand the system -and still dont, for that matter.

Since you obviously do, I would like to know if its alright if I add adult content. I saw that stories were grouped into different categories with regard to what ages they were suitable for but I do not know which category my own story is in and I don't yet know how to tell.

CatsPaw13:

Ignoring the frantic bobbing and fluttering motions of the raven, you walk towards the unicorn. As you approach it, it turns away from you and walks purposefully towards the path, fast enough so you don't catch up but always staying only a few yards ahead of you.

After a while you stop walking to examine an ancient, corroded sundial set on a pedestal next to the path. The unicorn stops and looks back at you, its knowing gaze contriving to convey impatience and annoyance.

CatsPaw13:

Ignoring the unicorn's impatience, you examine the sundial more closely. Its made of some kind of smooth metal, almost appearing as if a corroded copper surface were covered in molten glass and allowed to dry. Its unclear how practical it is, though, since you're still in the forest and so little sunlight penetrates the forest canopy that the sundial isn't a functional instrument.

Walking around the pedestal, you discover a sword.

It isn't shiny and doesn't look magical. In fact, it looks like it was dropped there a long time ago and there's dirt and a coat of rust on the dull-looking blade. It's heavy, too, much heavier than you'd expect.
Picking it up, you give the weathered blade a few tentative swings and decide to leave it where it is.

Conscious of the increasing annoyance of the unicorn who is now stamping its front hoof but otherwise hasn't moved from where it stopped you decide to continue on.

You aren't certian what Death is talking about, but you aren't certian that you want to be dead, either. It seems that for some reason you're being offered a chance to go back and make things right.
Do you give up, and walk the desert in search of whatever may await you there, or do you begin again?

You have no idea what's going on so you decide to watch as you wait to be noticed. Everyone's attention is on the view outside and you begin to feel a sense of cold hopelessness. These people aren't actually doing anything for all the blinking lights on their consoles, they're watching the view outside. Its a sensation entirely divorced from the cool air of the room and you feel it seeping into you, too.

You lean back against the wall behind you, noticing that it's surprisingly warm.

The seconds tick by, although as far as you can tell there's no clock here to measure them.

The man at the table in front of the window looks up briefly from the glowing images that he seems intent on studying. Suddenly he glances up, at someone in a chair in the center of the room in front of you and off to your right. He opens his mouth as if he were going to say something and then pauses.

Your breath catches in your throat and you're sure he's seen you. As he turned, you notice that he, like the rest of the people you can see from your vantage point, is armed with a sword, although its for the moment sheathed in a scabbard that seems to be attached to the cloth of his uniform. You wait for him to call out, to alert the others to your presence, but he seems to sigh and look back down at the glowing table again, then out of the window like the rest of them.

You sense that there's a door off to your left and you slowly inch towards, feeling along the wall behind you.

Just as your fingers reach the edge of what could be the door you're looking for, you hear a woman's voice. It might have been pleasant underneath but it sounds so tired and hopeless that its hard to tell just what it might have sounded like in another time and place.

"That's not a good idea."

Its hard to tell exactly who it was who it was who spoke, but everyone turns or looks up to look at you. Though they're all armed, nobody's drawn a sword yet but your presence has finally been noticed.

You follow the raven off through the woods. At first its easy; the forest under the canopy is open and spacious between the trunks of the tall trees and there's no undergrowth or briars to get in your way. The midnight bird flutters from tree to tree, croaking occasionally and though you sometimes hurry to catch up, its easy to follow.

Leaving the path, the unicorn and the tree far behind, you follow the raven. Eventually the forest gets darker, the trees get closer and less and less light filters in through the canopy. You can still hear the raven, somewhere ahead, croaking to you to catch up but you can no longer see it. Your legs are getting tired and you need to rest.

The raven wants you to follow it, and it waited for you at the tree with the unicorn so it probably won't fly off without you. On the other hand, if it did you'd be completely lost.
The Unicorn and the Raven

CatsPaw13:

You awake, disoriented and confused, at the base of a great tree. A slight breeze whispers in the leaves and sun shines down between them, down through the branches and mottles the leaves upon which you lay. But something isn't right. The shade of green is strange and the texture of the bark looks peculiar, shiny and almost plastic, and unlike the bark of any tree you've seen before.
There's no sound but the wind in the leaves and the soft leaves rustling beneath you as you try to move.

You try to remember what happened, how you got here, but the memory just isn't there. But that's not all. You can't remember who you are or any piece of information about yourself. ''Its as bad as those anime cliche's...'' The thought arrives in your mind but then you try to remember what anime is once again your mind comes up with a blank.

Eventually, you unsteadily pull yourself to your feet, leaning against a handy sapling. Your body aches all over and you don't know why but all appendages are accounted for.

Looking around, you see that you're in a forest. The great, strange tree is surrounded by many other, smaller trees, all with the same peculiar leaves and bark. There's a path winding them a short distance away, and on the path-

You see the Unicorn, but at first you don't believe your eyes. It looks like a white horse, its coat somewhat yellowed with dust and mane and tale dangled with small pieces of leaves, branches and other forest detritus. In the center of its forehead is a single horn of irridescent pearl. It's staring straight at you in the most intelligent way you've ever seen in an animal. You sense that it's waiting for you and wants you to follow it.

You start towards the unicorn, overcome with the urge to see where it would lead you when you hear a croaking sound behind you. You turn and see a raven perched on a low branch of the great tree. It wasn't there before. It bobs its head and flutters its wings before flying off to another, smaller tree a few yards away. You sense that it, too, wants you to follow- but in the opposite direction from the unicorn.

When you saw the raven, though, you saw something else as well. There was something wrong with the trunk of the tree, a slight shimmering. You didn't see it before, either, and its not hard to imagine why. Your eye happened to catch it at just the right time, otherwise you never would have noticed. It, too, warrants investigating.

You follow the unicorn farther along the path and leave the curious sundial behind you.

Soon, more relics of civilization appear. Stonework, fallen pillars, even a bench, half covered under fallen branches and leaves.

Eventually you feel stone hidden beneath the leaves that cover the path and on either side of you are broken walls and buildings. This was a city, once, you suspect and the remains of walls and buildings and towers seem to bear that out. It occurs to you that, if you wanted, you could make a run for it. You're not sure that following -or trusting- the unicorn was the wisest move. You could probably lose it in the ruins.
Suddenly the unicorn stops, pricking its ears at a sound that seems to come from within a building that's mostly still standing. If you want to run, this is your chance, while the unicorn is distracted

Ignoring the unicorn's impatience, you examine the sundail more closely.

Ignoring the frantic bobbing and fluttering motions of the raven, you walk towards the unicorn. As you approach it, it turns away from you and walks purposefully towards the path, fast enough so you don't catch up but always staying only a few yards ahead of you.

After a while you stop walking to examine an ancient, corroded sundail set on a pedestal next to the path. The unicorn stops and looks back at you, its knowing gaze contriving to convey impatience and annoyance.

Ignoring the uncertianty you feel, you close your eyes and step through the barrier. There's a disorienting sensation and you can see the inside of a kind of corridor made of light, see it even though your eyes are closed. Its like walking down a hall, except ever step is taken at the same time. You sense things that aren't tied to any of your senses and percieve things that cannot be described in normal three dimensional language. All this happens in an instant, but at the same time it seems to take hours or days, an eternity. Your senses begin to break down, unable to cope with the information they're being required to process all at once and everything starts to fade-

And then you're somewhere else. You don't know where you are at first, any more than you did when you woke up lying on the ground in the forest, but this is certainly no forest.

You're in a large room, lit by a hellish, red glow. The floor and pillars are dark marble but the far wall is glass and though its dark outside you can see the tops of stone towers in the blinding flashes of light that periodically illuminate the outside world. You can see more than that, though; the intermitent illumination reveals a tablue straight out of a nightmare. The towers you can see are covered with a moving carpet of horrible, misshapen creatures swarming all over them and you know, ''know,'' that you're watching something horrible. It gives you a cold feeling in the pit of your stomach and you don't know what's worse- when you can see the creatures or, knowing they're there, when you cant.

You aren't alone in the room. Though your eyes were drawn to the window that takes up the whole far wall, there the room is full of consoles and half a dozen people, all watching the scene outside, facing away from you. From this angle, the only person who might see you is leaning over a glowing table in a pit in front of the window. You can tell he's a man, dressed in the same dark colored uniform as the rest of the room's occupants, but that's about it. For the moment nobody has noticed your arrival, but that could change at any moment.

You touch the shimmering bark again, this time after closing your eyes first. Somehow, you knew that's what you were supposed to do, but any memory that might tell you why is hidden from you.

This time, instead of feeling the smooth, plastic bark beneath your fingers there's only a faint resistance as if your fingers passed through a wall of wind. You think that if you keep your eyes closed, you can pass through the illusion. On the other hand, that faint tickle of possible danger is stronger now, as if part of you is trying to make you remember something that's no longer there.

You make your way back to the tree, ignoring both the unicorn and the raven. The shimmer you saw earlier is still there, very faint but once you know what you're looking for quite noticable. There's a faint irridescense to it and you have the feeling that it might not be real, in the same way that an illusion isn't real.

Somewhere, from deep inside the darkness that hides your memories comes a little tickle of uncertianty. This could be dangerous.

Slowly you reach out your hand and touch it.
The shimmering ceases and it feels like ordinary tree back. When you remove your hand, you notice that the shimmering irridescense is back. Something isn't right here.
