"Well, I'm interested in becoming a veterinarian," you tell her. "Hence why I was accepted into this academy in the first place, I suppose. I'm also dabbling in things like English and Philosophy as a second choice if that doesn't fall through, though I hope that doesn't happen."

Kristen nods, seemingly impressed. "It looks like you have your priorities straight."

You shrug. "That's just what you have to do when you're pursuing your dream, no?"

"That's agreeable, yes," she replies. "I guess I'd be willing to share the book with you. Putting our minds together will get the work done faster, anyways."

You nod happily, handing her the book. "You can read through it first. I don't mind having to wait."

"Don't worry, I'm a quick reader," she assures, giving you a grin.

"I assumed as much," you reply.

As the two of you walk back downstairs to check out the book, Kristen gives you the occasional sideways glance, her tail swaying calmly behind her.

"How much do you read?" she asks you suddenly. "Just out of curiosity..."
