I keep my cool, waiting for the guy to approach me. Out of nowhere, a half-naked woman cuts into his path, grabs the belt of his pants, and kisses him. So much for that. I turn back toward the bar, only to find Mack smiling at me. "Don't worry, there's dozens more on the dance floor." "Good," I say.
After finishing my second drink I go look for Brie. While scanning the room, I see several handsome men, but only one of them captures my attention. He looks just like the Darren I knew, but more mature and good-looking.
It IS him!
He sees me staring and leans forward, maintaining eye contact.
I can't read his expression in this light. I should probably go say hi. We weren't exactly friends back in high school, but I hope he remembers me.
I make my way toward him and begin to climb the stairs. Just then a bouncer appears in front of me, "Where do you think you're going?" he asks. "The above area is VIP only."
