You are not intimately familiar with the basement, but within moments you have cast a preliminary gaze on all it has to offer.
The door is undoubtably locked, and will remain locked except for when your father opens or closes it. You have already decided against a direct assault.
You find two small windows that you might barely be able to escape through. Emerging naked into the outside world is not an ideal situation, but it's better than this. You stare off into space for a moment, contemplating your future, before shaking the grim thoughts away. You have to concentrate on the present.
The windows are too high up to reach, and as you consider moving some basement odds and ends around to form a platform, you hear the front door open and close.
Hurriedly, you return to your original position and wait patiently for your father...
