Greetings, and welcome to Tiragarde Keep, my attempt at combining my love of writing, love of Warcraft lore, and love of Choose your own Adventure stories. Though I hope any fan of fantasy novels will find the story enjoyable, those who have knowledge of the Warcraft setting will be better off; I explain many of the references through the text, but this is a story, not a guide. If you're confused about lore, I recommend that you check [http://www.wowwiki.com/Portal:Main WoWWiki], which is an excellent source of information about the setting. Just do a search for whatever you're confused about; there's an article for pretty much everything.

The only outpost of the Alliance in all of Orc and Troll occupied Durotar (which lies on the mysterious continent of Kalimdor, far away from the known world of the Eastern Kingdoms), Tiragarde Keep was constructed by the invading admiral Daelin Proudmoore of Kul Tiras, who intended to establish a base from which he and his men could expand outward and claim new territory in the name of his realm. Not long after it was built, however, the Orcs assembled a great Horde of allies and assailed it.

I should say that this story is much more text-heavy than most of the ones on this site; I personally like it that way, as it helps me feel more immersed, but I can tell that many people don't; if you're one of those people, there are plenty of other stories on this site that provide more instant gratification. I also give the following warning: this story will, at times, deal with mature themes. There will be no explicit sexual content, but it is possible to achieve a "fade to black" moment in several places in the story. There will also be a good deal of violence and some blood and gore.

They might have failed if it were not for the actions of Proudmoore's own daughter, Jaina, who had her own colony in Kalimdor and wished for peace with the Orcs. She held back her forces, watching her father die at the hands of those with whom she had signed her pact, before returning home and doing her best to forget Tiragarde. But Daelin was clever, and had established backup plans in case he and his invasion force should perish.

Finally, there will be RPG elements in the form of "code words". "Code words" provide a reward for readers who make choices that improve their character or establish meaningful relationships within the story; it's possible to go all the way through without using them, but events unfold better if you find and take advantage of them. On certain pages, you will be told that a "code word" can be used, in which case you can type it into the URL to get to an otherwise inaccessible story page that reflects earlier choices you made. Please keep track of any "code words" you discover.

Some time after the keep fell, these backup plans came into effect. A second wave of soldiers was dispatched from Kul Tiras to attack the shores of Durotar once more, with the intention of taking back the ruined stronghold and defending it from the Horde. You were dispatched along with this wave, making the long journey from your homeland to a mysterious and dangerous place halfway around the world. Some say that the Orcs have infested the entire continent, but the officers dismiss this as panic-inspiring foolishness. You hope that they are right, for if the Horde was able to defeat Daelin Proudmoore, you will need all the wit and strength you can muster if you are to survive.

The middle deck of the frigate ''Blaze of Glory'' is dark and damp, but perfectly-kept, as is the custom of the proud Kul Tirisian Navy. You sit in your hammock, your armor and sword in the trunk beside you and a sheet of parchment and an inkwell on your lap. You are a recent addition to the Marines, and that means not only many drills but also a good deal of paperwork. Blessed with the ability to read and write, you do not require a scribe to do your work for you, and thus you squint at it as you try to fill it in by what light trickles down through the deck hatches.

Greetings, and welcome to Tiragarde Keep, my attempt at combining my love of writing, love of Warcraft lore, and love of Choose your own Adventure stories.
