The vagrants welcome you with open arms, and over time you become integrated into their small society, gathering food, clothes and other amenities needed to survive. In horror, you realize you passed on your undead state to the man you bit so many month's ago. Several of the vagrants want someone to go up and check what's happening up there and you know that you'd be the best suited for it.

It's been so long since you've been among humans you've forgotten how much you've missed it, even if it's a bit dangerous considering humans are your new favorite food. You nod your head yes and the young woman squeals with excitement, dragging you by the arm towards the vagrant camp.

The woman, who says her name is Dorothy, introduces you to the rest of her people, including her young son Jeremy, and the leader of the vagrants, old man Earl. You are worried at first that the vagrants will have a hard time accepting you, considering your sickly appearance and difficulty speaking, but the vagrants are used to taking in all kinds of people and gladly accept you with no judgement

Weeks pass and you begin to find life with the homeless inhabitants of the sewer quite nice, at least compared to your old life just wandering around, scrounging for rodents. You still have to sneak off from time to time to find food to sate your hunger, but at least you have a nice fire, a relatively soft bed, and nice company to which to return. As you listen to the members of the group talk while you all gather around the fire at night, you hear rumors of the surface world, about the dead getting up and attacking people. To your horror you realize that you must have passed your curse onto the businessman you attacked so many years ago.

During the day, Dorothy mentions she has heard rumors about a secret passage leading to an underground bunker, where the group can be safe while the surface world is under attack and hope you'll help her find it. A little later Jeremy shyly tugs on your sleeve, saying he say some strange men in the sewers the other day, but he runs off before you get anything else out of him. Meanwhile, members of the underground community pass along a message from old man Earl, about how he wants your help to try and find weapons in case some of the undead get down in the sewers.
