"Have you seen an old, plump woman aboard this bus leave moments ago?", you asked. But the driver said no.
"You see, she had with her . . ."
"I don't have time for that. My bus is leaving. See that traffic officer there? He's telling me to leave."
And so you left.
Pondering over your loss, you thought of why the woman would want to get the book from you. She may have forgotten to return it to you (she's old, right?), or she may have intentionally left the bus with the book, or worse yet, she may still be there at the bus, but you left.
You let out a sigh. There was this feeling you can't explain when you had the book, and now you haven't figured out what that is. You organize your bag as you near the sidewalk; the book may be there (which is impossible), or your other things may be lost.
Look at your stuff below. What's missing?
But before you notice that, the bag tips from your hands, and something falls from your pouch to the drainage. Your journal is still there, yet you felt the object fluttered with pages as it fell.
Was it your compass?
Or was it your book?
