The woman snorts. "Those are the only good words I've ever heard about him. My name's Gabriella, by the way." She extends her hand, which you accept.

"What do you mean?"

"He's lived up on that mountain for about fifteen years. He just moved into the castle one day. His assistant, Igor, would come here and buy produce and supplies, so we didn't mind him at first. Then we found dug up graves and had machinery stolen. We were never able to link them to him, but we're pretty sure. It got worse after that. He did things to some of our livestock. Cows aren't supposed to be purple, or have two heads. Not long after all this started happening, my cousin went up to ask him to stop meddling in our affairs or move out. We never saw my cousin again. We've had worse things, too. Monsters, practically. He'll mess with nature, then set his creation free. We're left to deal with it. Last year, it was a supersized wolf, and the year before, a cyborg bear. We've had other people go up to confront him. Few ever came back. You're lucky you got out when you did."

After everything you've seen and heard today, you want to believe her, but it's hard to completely change your ideas of what is and isn't possible without solid proof.
