Ting unlocked the door, and the train of people behind her filed into the room. Jane sat on one bed and Ting on the other. Bryan sat down in the desk chair, and Scott sat next to Ting. Jane got up and went into the closet, coming out with a bottle of vodka. Bryan and Scott offered their soda cans, which she poured alcohol in.

She sat on the bed again and looked over at Bryan. She patted the bed next to her. Bryan smiled at her and got up, sitting down so that his thigh touched hers. She patted his leg.

“So, drink up, boys!” Ting exclaimed, and she took a long pull off her soda. Everyone else followed suit.

In the quiet of the room with just a distant thumping from the party music, Jane asked, “So which floor are you guys from?”

“Just down one,” replied Scott. “Does anyone want some pot?” He pulled out another fat joint, which Ting yanked out of his hands. Jane stood up, grabbed a bolster from her bed, and walked to the door, squeezing it between the walls and the base of the door, completely filling the space under the door. Then, while Ting lit the jay and sucked smoke into her lungs, Jane opened the window. Bryan thought they seemed very practiced at this routine.

The joint went around several times, and everyone was pretty happy. Ting was cuddled into Scott’s chest as they both leaned back into the bolster on Ting’s bed. Jane’s body was right next to Bryan’s, and she nuzzled his neck. There was no bolster to lean against, so they sat upright. Bryan thought this might turn into an orgy, but after a few minutes, Scott stood up, pulling Ting to her feet. He whispered into her ear, and she got a big grin on her face.

“We’re going to the room, Bryan. We’ll see you later,” Scott declared. He and Ting left arm in arm, chuckling.

The smoke had cleared from the room, so Jane retrieved the bolster from the door and closed the window. She came back and sat with Bryan, pulling him back into the bolster and pillows on the bed.
