"Well, Kayla," you counter, swallowing some more ham, "Are you sure talking to boys is the more valuable skill?"

Your oldest daughter is a bit surprised by your response, only managing to reply "What?"

"I said, is talking to boys a more valuable skill than talking to computers. Cause I don't see very many people becoming millionaires by talking to boys."

Now it's Kayla's turn to look stupid, playing with her hair. "I mean, maybe."

"I think maybe you owe your sister an apology," you say sternly, spooning some more corn into your mouth."

"Sorry Katie," Kayla mumbles, not making eye contact. Katie doesn't respond, but from the look she sends your way you know she appreciated the support.

"Well, computers may be important," Piper says, sitting down at the table, "You can't stay cooped up in this house forever."

"Whatever you say Mother," Katie shoots back, still happy that you defended her. You know your wife doesn't condone Katie's behavior, and also isn't thrilled you support it.

Your family finishes dinner, sharing some small talk around the table. While your wife washes the dishes, you sit down in your favorite chair and crack open a newspaper. Apparently, there is a suspected spy in the capital, an illegal named Roland Rivero. These were trying times indeed.

Your children go to their respective rooms, and once the dishes are clean your wife retires to your bedroom, a book in hand. Putting the newspaper away, you climb the stairs to the second floor. All the kids bedrooms are on this floor, and you contemplate visiting one of them.
