"What about you?" you ask, handing the water bottle back.

"Me?" She shrugs as she takes the bottle. "I'm nobody important. Work and live in the area. Known Alisha for awhile. Worked with her." She takes a drink of water, then wipes her mouth with the back of her hand. "Was going to go back to school this fall and finish my degree, but obviously those plans are currently on hold."

"This might all pass pretty quick," you say. "We can't be sure what's happening."

"Maybe," she says. "Or maybe this is the end of the world." The girl shivers, and she attempts to mask her obvious fear.
