Long had the war raged on, dragging all three kingdoms within the land of Utterdom to battle. Four years had passed, season to bloody season, with no clear victor emerging before you, Crown-Prince Raenard Utter, found your own courage and led the King's tattered armies to a decisive battle. The other kingdoms, armies in tatters, and the head Dukes and Duchesses on their knees, finally gave over to peace. There would be no bargaining. There would be only surrender.

You were heralded as the savior of the lands, unifying the kingdom back under the singular red and silver banner of your family, and finally peace and prosperity could return to the realms. Those who refused to swear fealty to your lineage where hung or imprisoned, and loyal Barons and Dukes were installed to shepherd the peoples of Utterdom back into the light and grace of a time without war.

After four long years, you headed home to Castle Utter, and reached the gate to unfortunate news.

"Your father," you are told by one of the well dressed court Councillors. "He is quite ill. We fear he will not last a week. As news of your arrival reached his ears, he begged that you would come straight to his side."

You climb down off your horse, tired and saddle-worn, and take a deep breath.
