As much as you hate the two street thugs for what they're doing, you force yourself to keep walking. You're not the world's policeman, and you came here to solve a specific mystery, not to clean up seedy neighborhoods.

You go up to various people and ask about the Inca curse, taking advantage of your fluency in Spanish, but everyone you speak with denies knowledge about the curse or simply refuses to talk to you. Despite your command of the local language, you are still an outsider.

Finally, you decide to give up and head back to the hotel. It's time to call it a night, anyway, you think as you suppress a yawn. Looking at your watch, you see that it's almost midnight.

As you re-enter the hotel and head up to your room, you consider yourself lucky that you weren't mugged...or worse. Perhaps your choice of clothing that showed off your muscular body scared men off from attacking you. Your search was fruitless, but things easily could have turned out worse.
