That was too close of a call and you don’t want to take the risk of getting pregnant or catching a STI. Condoms work great if you use them every single time, there is only a 3% chance of getting pregnant, but in most typical teenage couples who are only using condoms 14% of them get pregnant in the first year. While 14% doesn’t sound that big, but you don’t want to end up in that group or even the 3% group because it can happen to anybody. In addition to using a condom you decide to start taking birth control. 

In many states like Illinois you don’t need a parent’s permission to go to a clinic or doctor to get a prescription for birth control. Many community clinics and planned parenthood offer birth control at a reduced price. With the many different kinds of birth control available there is something for everyone's preferences, and if you try one and it doesn’t work for you, don’t give up try another!
