Go talk to Mr. Lawrence

"Hi Mr. Lawrence!" you say brightly. Mr. Lawrence is in his mid 40s. He's a bit swarthy and looks like Mark Ruffalo. He was getting his morning paper in his pajamas, a college sweatshirt and flannel pajama pants. Even though he always tells you to call him his first name, Derek, you like to rib him a bit for his age by calling him 'Mr. Lawrence'.
"How ya doing, Gus." He said as he ruffled my hair, playfully.
"Stop it! I've got an audition today and I need to look like a leading man. I'm already feeling off because I have a tickle in my throat."
Mr. Lawrence laughed a bit and threw his hands up in the air "So sorry, didn't know I was ruining your destiny. Why don't you come inside for a bit. I'll make you a cup of tea for your throat and get you a comb."
I did still have plenty of time until first period and if Mr. Lawrence drove me that would make up for the time of getting tea and fixing my hair. On the other hand I could just walk to school and practice my audition.
