You walk through the door on your left. The door slams behind you once you're through, leaving you alone. You try turning the doorknob, but it refuses to move in either direction. You have no choice except to face what's in the room.
The room is a cubical chamber with only the one door, so far as you can see. In the center of the room is chessboard sitting atop a white pedestal.
