The two of you get up and walk towards the pulpit just as the front doors open and a middle-aged man walks in.

You stop to watch him. He's in rough clothes and seems to be in a hurry. He dips his hand in holy water, makes the sign of the cross, and busies himself with silent prayer.

You exchange looks of relief and walk closer to the dais. The nun is leading you towards the sacristy.
