Make friends with the old man

You walk up to the old man and grab his hand. "You are right mister, will you help me cross?"
He holds your hand, and says "Sure thing sweetheart, but where are your parents?"
You look up at him with a frown and say, "I ran away from home, they neglected me."
The cross walk now says "WALK". The two of you hold hands across the street.
