You get into a ready position. You haven't trained with weapons very much, but it couldn't be too hard. As the boy gets close, you stab at him and sidestep. The knife gets wrenched away, lodged in some sort of crystal-covered device at the front of the laser gun. It buzzes ominously and sparks are coming from all sides. The boy manages to stop moving right next to your supply bags. Seeing the gun, he mutters, "Shit." You don't think, you just duck and cover! The laser gun explodes loudly, sending out a wave of heat and light, but no shrapnel. The wind kicks up for a few seconds in response to the intense heat that was released, and the smell of ash and charred wood is on the air. Luckily, you were far enough away that you aren't hurt.
